01 vs. 03
LOVING this car so far too, best car I've had by far and I've had some good ones(2 S4's, S6, E55)... this is a different league.

I see you had owned some Audi's in the past...have you been a regular on Quattroworld? I am a longtime A4 owner - Monkeyboy on Audiworld/Quattroworld over the years.
The 996TT is worlds apart from the A4.
It's funny how I see so many flaws in my A4 after a few minutes in the 996TT!
Loving it.

The 03 has extra 40bhp, lighter exhaust system, stiffer body, cup holders with directional aircon for drinks, glove compartment with extra venting for passengers legs, hollow rims, better glass in mirrors, extra non slip steering leather, moss system for beter electrical flow and better bass, steeper front spoiler and differently coated rear spoiler for better downforce. 01 has 15 kg 03 has 60 kg. It is also 220 pounds lighter. Go for 03.

Flash.
Thanks again gents
. I wanted to spice up the thread. Apart from glove compartment, cup holders and optical stereo system ( pain in the **** if upgrading stereo ) zero difference. Congrats on purchase. Show us some photos.
I like a little spice, so cheers!

I started getting confused, that was a good one.
But then... not to harp the fact... there are rumors on improvements around the timing chain... starting with YR 2003.... so.. who knows...

Even funnier is that I only wanted to argue back about the weight difference!

I'm looking at 2 right now but fell in love with the '01(having a PPI done tomorrow) but before I pull the trigger I want to know what the significant differences are between the years. This 01 is clean, full service history and 'appears' to be well kept(find out tomorrow for sure).
Thanks for any help and hopefully by tomorrow night I'll be part of the club.

"For 2002, the Turbo got effective cup holders as well as a lockable glovebox. Also new were optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes. A number of changes were made in the sill, roof frame, seat pans, and tunnel to improve the flexural and torsional strength by 25 percent. The B-pillar was also modified to accept new seatbelt tensioners and force limiters. Finally, an X50 Powerkit was made available, with 450 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. The package included different turbos, intercoolers, engine management tuning, a revised exhaust system, and a strengthened transmission. No new features or changes were made for 2004, but Porsche put a Turbo Cabriolet into production for the first time since 1989. For 2005, a Turbo S coupe and Cabriolet were added, with 444 hp and 457 lb-ft torque, standard PCCBs, a slightly darker GT Silver finish on the wheels, and aluminum gauge faces. Most Turbo Ss were Cabriolets."
