Very Impressed With New Z06

While I'm all for a lighter 997 Turbo, I do think Porsche's suspension design and AWD individual wheel control on the 997 Turbo will make a huge difference.

I'd give up a bit of ultimate " claw out of a corner " road traction of an AWD Turbo for a couple hundred pounds lighter car with the steering feel of the GT2 and the $$ savings - but that's just me.

My '02 doesn't have a sunroof, and the Europipe exhaust weighs just as much as the OEM exhaust.

Credit where credit is due.
At least the Z06 has a real dry sump block, unlike those POS 996's and 997's with the lousy M96/7 blocks.
It is a sad day when CHEVY has a car with a motor that is way better and more track ready than your run of the mill 911's.

Go around the country and you'll hear people praising american V8's like we praise some of the italian and german motors
damn.......seems like u guys like my post? lol.....anyhow at the end of the day the porsche turbo has a respect given to it and its heritage. Of course its a "porsche" so the "wow" factor is there and it comes of as more prestigeous.....sure its build quality is SUPPOSED to be better the "feel" etc...but g-d damn give the Z06 its props!!!!!
OUT OF THE BOX BONE STOCK....i dont know ANY porsche owner thats modded there car beyond stage 2 or 3 that HASNT had a headache at one point or another dealing with these after market people or having to come out of pocket more than originally expected!!!!!
I for one do NOT plan on extensively modding my future cars for the sole purpose of all the headaches and hundred dollar bills flying away out of my pocket LOL....I think if u can buy a car for under 70K that will TOAST and i mean TOAST a stock 996tt says a WHOLE LOT regardless if its a chevy or not. I do agree its NOT all about speed....case in point when i bought my first bmw back in 1997 i got a bmw 540i sport....now at that time the lexus gs 400 and mercedes both had cars that rivaled the bmw...the mercedes was too soft and not as fast however the gs 400 at that time was actually faster 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile however felt like driving a toyota camry....so at the end of the day i bought the "slower" bmw...sure the porsche might lap better and give the driver a sense of "hey i drive a porsche so im better than the guy in the z06" but damn stock under warranty no worrying about if the dealer will void my warranty..all this says a LOT!
hey and i own 2 turbo porsches so screw those vette guys LOL J/K
i do agree that a c6 z06 will look great next to my 996tt evo700 in my garage thats WHEN my 996 is there and not in the shop getting a boost leak fixed, a clutch that only lasted 1800 miles replaced, a remap on my computer, changing out frozen divertor valves, replacing a bad mass air flow sensor, having to change the plugs every 8k, having to shmeer the local porsche tech to fix it and keep his mouth shut that its not stock, well i guess i could go on and on but whenever you mod a car like i have i guess there are bound to be issues with the stock parts holding up.....but to think AFTER i spent all this time money and aggrevation and im sure created aggravation for the vendors out there as im a pain in the *** for sure!!!! i only walked away from this stock z06 not RAN away from it...i mean it was close and ive come to find out my car was running just fine as it should with a 700 kit on it. LOL but AGAIN that was after i spent over $500 to find out it was ok ...hmm live and learn
