Found the 996tt with x50 and the color combo I am looking for. The only down side is the milage is a little high...60k miles. Previous owner used it as a daily driver but he took meticulous care of the care. 60k service done along with new brakes and new tires. Car seems mechanically sound.

I just wanted to ask you guys if there is anything else I should look for. I know about the 2nd gear pop-out issue and it seemed fine when I test drove it. It still has original clutch so I am putting aside some cash in case it starts slipping. I guess I am just looking for some reassurance before I put down a good chunk of cash for this thing.

 

Well maintained, the car can certainly go past 60k and still be in great health.

However, at those miles you should be getting a significant price break vs. one with 20k.

 

It is almost 9 years old so 6.6K miles a year he must of lived pretty close to work. Review the service records, get a PPI done, find a price you're happy with, and pull the trigger. Just remember you're buying a car that may have cost close to $150K new and the repair/service costs are commensurately expensive.

 

I would not hesitate to buy a car with 60k mi if it was well maintained. Barely broken in. Just have a PPI done for peace of mind. I have been looking for a while too. Only other potential issue I found is the coolant lines that come loose and dump all the coolant. Might want to ask about that if it was fixed or not. Good luck!!

 

What was done at recent maintenance?
Plugs, Gear oil, MAF, O2s, brake fluid flush... check for service history on these items.

Other issues, slave/accumulator; spoiler hydraulics, coolant res.

O yea I remember ur screen name. Yup sold my B5 a few yrs back. Now looking to get back into something similar...ya know awd, 6 cylinders, and turbos

 

Find out if the coolant connectors have been pinned or welded to the motor. If not, it will have to be done at some point. These cars are getting to that age were these connectors are popping out of the engine block. Porsche used some form of loctite to bond them in...dumb. It's happening a lot these days. I've heard of cars with only 20K miles having it happen so it's most likely an age thing and not a mileage thing. 60K miles on these motors is nothing...I've seen personally examples with 300,000+ miles on the original motor and there's one on Ebay right now with supposedly 500,000... not sure if that's correct but it's listed twice in the ad. These motors are great but will require some up-keep. What's the person asking for the car?

 

Asking for 46k. Does that sound about right?
