997tt shifter for 996tt?

Bought a 996 turbo about a month ago and am thinking about an OEM 997 turbo shifter for it. It came with some short shifter that is extremely notchy when it comes to throws, not sure if I'll ever get used to it. The previous owner never told me the brand of the short shifter (it slipped my mind to even ask). Anyways, I test drove a 997tt for the hell of it and love the smoothness of the shifts. Anyone with an OEM 997 shifter in their 996tt have comments? Do the shifts feel like the 997's?

I'm just not a fan of short shifters, I'd rather have the smoothness of an OEM 997tt shifter on my 996tt (if possible)

I went from a stock 996TT shifter to an OEM 997TT SSK. I'm very happy with the result.

From what i am told by the original owner of my car i have a 997 shifter in my car, not the short shift option. I love it it is tight smooth and precise.

If you've ever driven a 997tt, do your shifts feel very similar to it?

Does it feel very notchy? This short shifter I have is just a little too much for dailying. Feels like I have to crush a stone to get into gear!

What don't you like about it? And is it the OEM kit?

One of my first mods was the 997shifter. It's a little shorter than our stock 996 but feels so much better. It was a fun DIY as well. Great instructions came with the OEM kit.

997 stock shifter (not short shift) is right on the money for feel.
The OEM 996 SSK wasn't bad either imo.

The 997 SS feels much better than the stock 996 shifter. There is also an 997 GT3 version which has a slightly longer throw but more metal in critical areas. Someonr also posted an all metal after market version that looks like a piece of art and you can adjust the throw on it. Of course any of these will work better with stiffer engine and tranny mounts.
