Front plate

Front plate
I unfortunately live in the peoples republic of NY where a front plate is required. I haven't been running it and finally got pulled over for it. He gave me a ticket for no insurance because I handed him the wrong insurance card. I offered the good one but he said it was either that one or a ticket for a plate. I can mail in the card and get it dropped no harm done. But anyway...I wanted to mount a hideaway plate, and I'm looking for input. I've seen the swift Motorsport version but I don't know we're I could mount it, so I'd love some feedback from you guys. My other option is a tow hook mounted plate. I really would like to avoid it though. Suggestions fellas?

Save your money on the mechanism, take your chances with no front plate. I have never run a front plate on any of my cars, and although I have gotten tickets, mostly when parked on the street.... its never been enough to make me put a plate on.

many of us in SoCal have run w/out plates for years since the law requiring them went into effect. my experience is that the parking gestapo will nab you parked even more quickly than a LEO stop. after many many nuisance tickets i just decided enough was enough and mounted the towhook plate holder which is at least off center, and can be taken off with just a twist.
i don't know about you guys, but i live in Kalifornia and NON compliance with laws ( any laws ) is just not ( usually ) worth it. also, you can get pulled for no plate at any time.
it is "cause", and i say give 'em no reasons.

if it were only money, maybe i'd feel differently. but in CA ya gotta get it signed off by CHP showing compliance, sometimes wait in line etc. and on top of that, i think i got like 3 tickets within a 6 week period ( was parking in a highly enforced/patrolled n'hood)..
after a few in as many weeks, i decided.. not worth it at all. plus you KNOW the deadbeat meter cops love ticketing turbo's.. for anything. my last ticket i had a temp sticker in the window, STILL gave me a ticket.
btw.. lemme know if you ned a source on the towhook plateholder. the guy makes em himself, sells for like 40-50 bucks. very solid item. paypal him and you'll have it in 2 days. i still have his email, i've bought two from him before.
found it: email him for info: ROLF STUMBERGER stumberger_r@msn.com

i,ll sell mine first, got stoped in my chey hhr for no rear plate, had in the cargo hold showed it to the cop,(chp) let him see my card from the govs office and he still gave me a ticket ... i was across the street from the chp office so i went over asked to use a screw drive and got it signed off in 5min. the guy started to laugh and said i'm surprised this guy didn't write you for no front plate too.oh the new reg was still taped in the window. cost $25.00

The same meter maid in San Francisco tag my car three times in the same day for no front plate. Usually I just pay the ticket but this one I went to court and the judge dismissed all three of them.

Yeah me too for 15 years now. I've paid probably $1000+ easily over the years but I'll take that over the negative effect they have on the appearance of the car. Plus they're the primary spot a LEO aims the radar gun at.....
