I washed the car today and the spoiler literally came off in my hands. I tried to twist the pistons into some sort of locking position on the wing (aftermarket) - never had a problem before. Is there a special tool for turning the pistons to lock them in place?

It's called a spanner wrench.

Dealers have some, probably $45 or so.

Check online, $20 range.
