TT vs X50
Okay, So I'm toying with the idea of going from C2 to TT. It's not that I don't enjoy the car now but after being infected with the mod bug it seems easier to step up than dress up. My question is, the few X50 equipped turbos carry a premium but not as much as modding a TT. So, which makes more sense to the gang here, go with the TT and start adding or is the X50 enough to keep the addiction at bay?
Do a search here - it's been discussed a lot. The quick answer is that K16 vs K24 probably isn't going to be a huge difference.
The premium on the X50 probably could be better spent on upgrading turbos.

coincidently today the guys at Vivid posted about tunes. Seems that the TT goes from 415 to 495 but the X50 version goes 450 to 490hp. SO hp and torque end up the same for the same price of the tune. If $1,500 makes them equal seems the flash is better than the extra $$ for the X50. ???
Are you sure Vivid was adding the same mods to both cars to get to those numbers? What mods were those? I'm guessing a tune and header-back exhaust?
Because of the different turbos, a base TT with exhaust and tune won't feel the same as an X50 with the same mods. Some people will say the regular TT is better because the turbos spool lower than the X50 turbos. Personally, I don't think many people will be able to tell the difference very easily with a butt dyno between a regular TT with an exhaust and flash and an X50 with exhaust and flash. Personally I went with the X50 because you get the K24 turbos and more importantly the bigger ICs. Also, I can mod the exhaust side of my turbos with the 18g wheels to get up to the 600+ whp/wtq range instead of having to replace the entire turbos to get to those numbers which I'd have to do if I had the K16 turbos.

I have a regular TT with flash, exhaust and intake done. My friend has an X50 with pretty much same mods (he kept original airbox but changed turbo inlet pipes instead) and I can tell you the difference in performance is rather big. Above 120 mph I stand no chance at all. Way more torque at higher rpms, you can really feel it when inside his car.
We had an opportunity to race a recent GTR, the one with 530 hp I believe, and when we raced from a roll starting at like 20 mph I managed to get a jump on both gtr and x50 probably due to smaller turbos, but then at around 100 mph they kept catching me, going past and leaving me quite far behind.
GTR did not manage to kill my friend's X50 even once, always finished around 3 car lenghts behind X50.

So, you're saying from your experience 0 -100mph the modded TT has the advantage, over that the X50 has the upper hand?

I think part of the reason the K16 car pulled so hard in 2nd gear is in talking to Kevin at UMW he has the tune set up where power delivery is load dependant and 1 and 2 gear he pulls the power delivery back to save the drivetrain. My clutch and drivetrain is stock, he said if I put a clutch in it he could dial up the power delivery and that would get the car pulling harder in the early gears. Before the exhaust I actually felt the car pulled better stock tune in 1 and 2 gear but 3rd gear is a completely different deal. Afyter the exhaust that definately woke the car up in all gears.

I agree in principle but my X50 car sure does work nice with UMW and exhaust. Like I said my car definately will out pull my buddies K16 in the 1/4 mile. There may be a differnce in tune and if the K16 was on a UMW tune maybe a different story....
