Advice on the next step please

I own and have modified an '01 996TT. 16G's, dv's, exhaust, headers,
cats, Y pipe, 5bar fpr with softronic tune. Additionally, I've shaved
260 lb's from stock. ( back seats delete, LW carpet, pole pos. Recaro
etc...) Amazingly the car dyno's 560 rwhp and 600 ft lb's torque @
1.4 bar! This was on a dynojet w/ front disconnected. It runs low
7's 60-130. I see a 6 in the near future. That is to say, when I learn
how to nail it! I'm no stranger to Porsche as I have owned 8 of them
over the last 18 years. I even had an ANDIAL 930 back in the day.
Historians( read old farts) will know this car. It was the best money
could buy at the time.

My question is, with current mods, what could I do to eek out a little
more power? Should I consider gt30's and if so, can I get a run down
on peripherals and what to expect? Would gt28's be a noticeable
improvement? Of course I want my cake and eat it too. I would like
to keep a similar spool up with a better mid/high end. Any advice would
be helpful.

Get some really good intercoolers.... those small turbos produce lots of heat at 1.4 bar...
get the intake to turbos form the airbox, injectors, and run 100 octane with a boost controller... and your done....

bigger turbos will spool up later but will produce more power.... but will be a different drive....

Ive had many turbos on my cars... started with k16s and ended up with 35rs... and everything in between... so I have tone of experience....
good luck
markski

Thanks Markski. I've been lurking about for a couple months her. Joined today.

Heat soak is a real issue and I realize overall performance is suffering. A good bar
and plate was on my near future to do list. I'm not one to talk smack about anybody
but I aint real happy with the folks I'm doing business with right now. I've read many
of your post and you always have a decent rationale and empiricism to back it up.
Will you pm me with a list and pricing?

i have been reading about header and turbo blankets. wont be a huge amount but seems like it does help keep the heat were it needs to be and away from were it shouldnt.

I intend on listening to Markski, john! As I mentioned earlier, I've been snoopin
around for a couple months now. He's been down the road and back with these
cars. My last turbo was air cooled. I was "sober" and hadn't touched a Porsche
in 5 years. I relapsed on a Boxter but it was like relapsing on wine coolers.
I test drove a 997 turbo but it was heavy and waaay too civilized for my taste.
Early on it was evident that the 996TT , with its gt1 engine and 964 bottom,
was the way to go. Buy a nice example for 35K and put an additional 25-30k
and whamo.....

Thanks 32krazy. I'll be lookin into that. Is it the same concept as ceramic headers?
Please excuse my ignorance but I'm from another era.

it is. theres header wraps and turbo wraps available. seerms they hold in the heat keeping the exhaust gases moving faster and spooloing the turbos faster for reduced lag. they also keep the heat from the engine bay and electrical and rubber componets.
some worry about premature bearing wear diue to the increased heat in the turbo but i havent found any evidence of failures due to the wraps specifically
