Below is a before and after picture of my driver side headlight.

The after picture was taken after the car had been washed and driven. The headlights had been on the car for approximately 4 days. BTW the headlight fogged up in 1 or 2 days after originally receiving them.

One last point, the area on the left side of the after picture is not fogging, I think it was just a reflection.

Later, Steve

I disassembled the headlights and cleaned up the inside of the lens with some plastic polish.

See the previous page for details.

Said company has my headlights... yup, I was brave and had them crack the housings opening for a flat black finish. I have instructed them to leave them drying for 2-3 weeks for proper and sufficient outgassing. They are being very cooperative and great to deal with so far.

I will be instructing them to reassemble the lights for return shipment in the next week or so. I will of course update everyone with pics and details of my experience when they are back...

Stay tuned.

Brave soul! Glad to hear they're accommodating your request. Guess they learned their lesson.

Let us know how it goes.

You are brave.

I honestly don't think they are any good at doing this, hopefully they learn from their mistakes.

You will need to redo the caps, as they DID NOT prep or sand the surface prior to paint, it will chip off, hell mine started to chip before I even installed the headlights in the car.

Good luck.

JS... do you have any pics? The only thing that concerns me at this point is that they painted the entire inner structure black, whereas when you look at Steve Jarvis's lights, they left the inner ring (around where the lens is) silver. I like that look as from far away if you squint, you can almost see the round 997 look. I am wondering how mine will look once reassembled.

Mine look like the other Steve's lights. I will try and shoot a pic tonight.

Not sure why they appear to have painted the entire insert.

From what I can tell, after looking at mine closely, it appears they paint the entire light first, then paint that section with a chrome finish paint.

Steve B,

FYI below is a set up lights painted similar to yours for reference.

So I have read through the entire thread and I am aware of the difficulties, but I think I can do a better job than that company...

Here's the quandary...what color? My 996t is midnight blue. I am thinking a flat black, and I am going to leave the chrome oval like Steve Jarvis did.

Question for Steve...for the fog lights, do you feel as though it reduced output having it all painted like that?
