No. I have not trying to pump while the engine is running.
What is the purpose to try it?

Car electronics / electrics are weird and wonderful and car manufacturers are putting very interesting electrical connections in cars. I am wondering if - for whatever reason - you might have something in the ignition system that might be faulty and lock or prevents a fuse, a lock, a pump or a gizmo from working. The fact that nobody has a definite answer tells you that it is worth considering.

Just had this happen to me today just as described. I held the nozzle at all sorts of angles with no luck. Tried 2 gas stAtions and 3 pumps. No previous issues.

It's like the tank is pressurized and just kinda lazily flows out. Nozzle kicks off almost immediately after squeezing. Guess il start with the fuse, then try coat hanger method to rule out flap, then on to the charcoal canister.

95% it's the canister.

Just put 5 gallons in with my gas container. No problem!! Went in with no issues. I do hear the click when the flap opens.

Pumptech,
I still have not have time to fix mine yet. I continue using the method of pressing the pressure relieve valve and slowly pumping gas. Like Duene966TT said, the problem potentially could be the carbon canister. I hope I'll have time this June to play around with fixing it. Please keep me posted as I'm very interested in your findings. Good Luck. BV

Another Porsche feature. My car drinks nicely but I have noticed that at certain gas stations it does take the stuff easier and faster. For my car, the Shell gas stations (California) seem to fill up slower. All other branded stations have no issues at all. So perhaps it is a certain brand of Pumps (I doubt it has anything to do with the gasoline itself)

Some things I just can't explain. It took a full tank today with no problems. I took the plastic extension tube off my gas can to insert over the novel just in case. Didn't need it.

Go back to that gas station next time to fill up and see what happens. It's either a problem with the type / brand of PUMP or it is your car..Keep us posted... Interesting subject ..

then eventually end up looking at the charcoal canister as duane996tt suggested. that will ( should ) be "it".

Strange, this happened to me the first day I bought the car, then never after that.
