The modification bug can bit hard once you start That's great too hear, they tend to do that to their owners. Hopefully you can get some more miles on and enjoy it in the coming weeks once you figure out the problem. Keep us updated on what you figure out.

I had this same feeling but more in the rear when I lowered my Z06 a little too far, but from what I'm reading 1" drop is very safe with the stock shocks.

So is this feeling normal? Is it something I can tune out with adjustable sway bars?

What size wheels are you running, stock 18" or larger?

That rubber band feel is what I have as well at high speed turns (ie above 100m/h). From speaking to Autowerks and some research here it is my 19" wheels that are doing causing it, being the suspension was designed for 18" wheels from the factory. Autowerks said they can "dial" it out, but we are waiting for me to do my suspension (ie coilovers) so I don't have to pay twice.

I am not sure if it is the same thing, just putting it out there.

Thanks

Same feeling with both the 18 and 19 inch wheels. I am actually feeling this as low at 40mph. It isn't anything violent and some might not even notice it but to me it just doesn't feel right.

wow. now i'm sure don't know what "rubber banding" at speeds as low as 40mph might be and also at speed in turns?. certainly more likely at high speed turn's sidewall flexing was a possible,.. but i guess you've kinda ruled that out?

can you elaborate on the symptom(s) you describe? what rubber bands exactly? and stretches or snaps? .. sorry..lol

So after doing some more reading on here I found some other people describing the same feeling so I determined it was normal.

I just got done installing the Eibach sway bar set and tested the car out on a curve that I knew would always give me said feeling as I approached 40 mph. With the Eibachs on the middle setting front and rear I got just a hint of that understeer feeling at about 45. So, I'd say that was a successful mod and well worth the $350.

You may want to consider going full soft in front and leave the rear in the middle.

How will this change the dynamics. I am about to head in the garage to change the front diff fluid. I was also going to try out full stiff on the rear and leave the front in the middle.

going full soft in front may reduce some of the understeer. everyone's set up is different. Tires and tire pressures make a huge difference as well as other suspension components. your on the right path, just experiment and see what works best for you. its all part of the fun.

I had this un-nerving symptom as well when I bought my turbo. I was sure something was broken or wrong. I was amazed at how subtle air pressure changes in the tires made on this sensation, though.
First HPDE in this car, I was very tentative, but you quickly realize its just that...a sensation. Even though you are being telegraphed that sensation, the car still has phenomenal grip and predictability.
Many on here tried to explain the floaty or spongy feel, and many say there car is stuck to the road. My experience is that it's not as rock solid as other front engine cars I've owned, but once you get confident of the feel, it's not a big deal.
Welcome!

You probably won't like my thoughts, but... Lowering springs on a heavy/older car with mileage and stock shocks/components will leave you with nothing but disappointment!

Had H+R's on my 996TT and they came off real quick for coil overs.. Night and day, Springs ruin the car's dynamics/handling and performance, nothing but aesthetics!

That really doesn't surprise me. I hope to get coilovers at some point as I think my rear shocks are much closer to the end of their lifespan than the beginning.
