Cup Car Center Lock wheels

Is anyone running cup car center locks? How about on the street? Are there any problems or disadvantages other than the obvious like wheel choice? The reason I ask is I may have an opportunity to get my hands on a new set from a friend for an absurdly low price. I would love to hear recommendations from those who know, and have experience.

But seriously -- I've only seen the 997 RS guys do the CL swaps. It looks like a huge amount of $$ in hardware for new hubs, etc.
I've never done it personally, but I've definitely heard mixed reviews of CLs and user maintenance.

Hehe....OK, brother. We'll talk when the time comes. The Center Lock conversion is not a done deal yet, but I'll give you first right of refusal. My GMG WC's have like 1 hour total of road time on them. I'll have a great set of Fikse's to sell too!

All the hardware would be included in the deal. I am more concerned with streetability, since my track time will remain limited.

Hah!

Here's the link I was thinking of:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...et-vs-cup.html

Apparently there's a bit of difference, even between the CL systems.
Looks like a bit of research is in order!

Best,
Henry

So I've been hearing all the issues re: Cl wheels on the RS for a while now and had to wonder whether my system is at risk or I'm just lucky.

I've run 9ff CL on my 2001 996TT since 2005 with no issues (plenty of track time btw). It seems to be a rip of the cup car system adapted to street cars.

I'm actually wondering whether to go back to 5-lug wheels or stay in the CL world. If someone could point out what the issue with a cup car system on a street car, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

oh yeah, they look like this.

Most of the GT3 track junkies are retrofitting their CLs to regular 5 lugs.... CLs seem to be a liabity now....
