Red Beast Dyno Numbers!
Well we do have new Dyno numbers and they are bigger than before but it has been requested that I wait until the final tuning is done to reveal where we are at.
I know you are going to hate me for keeping you in suspense but we should be done shortly and I don't think anyone will be dissapointed with the final outcome. As soon as I have the final numbers you will be the first to know!!

buddy,
I am sure they will let you announce it when they finally obtain 700 ponies.
I hope you get your car back with the 700 ponies in time for Tail of the Dragon meet.
Do you know if they are tuning only or are other changes being required?
It sounds like they are getting closer but no cigar yet.

buddy,
Are they tuning like they said or have they had to resort to other devices? Reason for asking is I find it a little unbelievable (but nothing is impossible) one hundred hp is derived from tuning unless the boost is really being raised an extreme amount. Especially given the fact you said the motor was running so nicely prior.
I was running 1.2 bar to attain 626 rwhp (without CO2 or nitrous). Do you know what bar is being run resulting in what figures?

I have to find out what the latest run was set at, the first run when the car was sent to them was run at 1.1 bar and we got 467 AWHP. I honestly can't say what all they are doing but this car has alot of different things that they have not seen before. Garrett seemed to be very excited and shocked at the power my car is putting down. I have no idea what the final boost setting for RACE program will be.
You guys will be the first to know any new info!

Buddy,
If there is "different things that GIAC hasn't seen before" on your Stage V and your car is not currently achieving 700 hp, then it appears safe to assume the Stage V was never achieving close to 700 hp earlier since it is not doing it now after they have had over four weeks to retune. It appears the advertising was just a little premature. Tuning does not take over a month. I have had more difficult tuning tasks performed in forty eight hours by Todd at Protomotive and GIAC is no slouch. It sounds like due to the time elapsed without achieving 700 hp that different components are being added in an attempt to achieve 700 real hp.
Yes, it is very time consuming if parts have to be ordered or manufacturered, installed, tested and retuned. Sometimes this vicious cycle that can go on and on and on.
Been there and done that.
We all hope you achieve the 700 hp soon. It would really be nice if some of this learning experience could be shared (details as it takes place) with all of us.

Chad,
As far as I know they are not changing any parts. The Stage V development car was at like 698 hp at the flywheel, so PES decided to make larger intake and throttle bodies to get the flywheel hp over 700 hp. The boost was set by PES very conservatively and sent to GIAC for tuning. My car was at GIAC for quite a while before they could work on it because of some other issues including the cracked header that they found.
They are very carefully writing programs and making sure everything looks good, you can kind of think of my car as the updated development car if you will but I don't believe that GIAC is changing any physical parts.
You guys know pretty much all that I do at this point. We have made another run significantly higher than the first one I posted and Garrett said he had a lot more to go. As soon as I hear I will let you guys know.
Thanks!

buddy,
I want you to understand that personally I want you to be as successfully with your quest as possible. I would love to see you raise the bar. As for tuners I want the truth. If you recall the first explanation given was bogus and then they made a correction. I have changed my throttle body size three times. In each case I ran my prior ECU numbers and yes, I ran a little leaner, but nothing that would hurt the motor on the dyno. However my numbers were never lower than the prior run by more than 20 hp and in some cases they were actually leaner but higher. That is why I do not buy their explanation. I sent the ECU to Protomotive and the modifications were made in three days. This "being careful" stuff is not a legitimate reason, there has been more than enough time to be careful. You cannot make 700 hp with a stock 66 mm throttle body. You can (just barely if you have a proper air intake) make it with the 74 mm 996 NA throttle body (bored 3 mm to 77 mm). To make alot more than that you need a 90 mm throttle body, splitter, intake and intercoolers. It is my understanding the Stage V was using the 996 NA throttle body. My understanding also was they were making about 595 hp but the rear wheel standard they were using was never disclosed. That means the 595 SAE "J1439 Rev 1990" could be a real 595 (still less than 700 flywheel) or as low as a real 565 if the SAE "standard corrected" was used instead. There is about a thirty hp difference between the two standards which is attributed mostly to an approx. ten degree difference as to what temperatures the run is calculated by the computer.
If they are not changing any parts, then the tuning time is way out of line. In other words, they have not been working on your car. GIAC is a very good tuner. I would really be surprised if they required more than three days to tune any car from scratch.

It is just me or do most of these threads turn to who is the biggest, badest and can make the most? There are choices and options around every corner and therefore while one option may appear to be the best for one it could be a disaster for another. Who is biggest and prove me wrong is not the spirit in which most of us do things. We all love to play, but you don't see me up here doing that. I have had plenty of fast cars....I owned an older twin that went 10.2s (740RWHP) in the 1/4 and still lives on the track today after being on the road for 3 years. Yet I don't blind side everyone with it all the time, in fact never. I ran 11.6s non stop with a car just under (498) at 129. So what. I don't normally get into these type of discussions, but like others on the board Buddies car is under going the final process. I don't say this because I am affiliated with GIAC, I say it because these threads should be helpful and useful. Buddy is not building the car and therefore is learning as he goes along. I can tell you that the car has not received any new parts and the last dyno numbers were damn impressive. Lastly, this is not the only thing GIAC has done for the last three weeks. They like many of us are a small employee based company. I personally try to explain to my friends and customers that while it may seem much is not going on my day is sometimes nuts. Sometimes I can devote 8 hours and sometimes the day only allows 30 minutes. No excuses I tell them, just the law of small business. I am actually working today....Not enough hours in the day. In fact the length of time thus far is probably less then what the "average" custom tune is from some other tuners. Lets just wait and see what the car comes out like. Who knows, but time will tell.
Stephen,
I have plenty of respect for you. However your above post is akind to a smoke screen. Just look at the facts.
1) I have said I hope he raises the bar.
2) I have wished him the best of luck obtaining his goals.
3) I love competition
4) I am "not" a tuner.
5) I have used several tuners.
6) I will use anything or anyones product that works.
7) I have always shared information.
8) I have never withheld parts.
9) I have made it a policy that parts developed by research on my car be made available to others and THEY HAVE BEEN.
In addition, from the sounds of his developments, Ahmed in Kuwait sounds like the guy to be chasing and I congraduate him.
Your comment about "who is the biggest and prove me wrong" is out of line. The heart of the matter is 700 hp in Stage V form was advertised as currently available and currently it is not. Go back to the earlier posts and look at the "reason." Then look at the changed reason. Now look at the withholding of information. True, no one says we are entitled to this information. It just smacks at the old days when little information was available "top secret" and prices were sky high. As knowledge has become common place more power has become available for less money.
My point is the secrecy resultants in artifically higher prices. It has nothing to do with who has the current best numbers. These numbers will continue to change and everyone knows this.
Again, I respect many of the things you have done but please don't misrepresent my intentions and motives. You know by now I will fight for my postion. The one way to get me to change is to provide information that shows me my position is wrong. I have changed my position in the past when proven wrong and you know it.

Well I simply call it like I see it. I am a straight shooter and this is my opinion. Smoke screen for who? Not me, I have no stake in this. No offense meant, just my observation and opinion. What's that worth....Maybe a 1.25 which is a cup of coffee at Mickey Dees...
