GT3 Seats

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for upgraded seats for my 996 TT. Went to a few track days and realized that the stock seat on the turbo just isn't up to par.

The more I look into seats the more confused I got. I wanted to get GT3 seats due to the ability to sell them in the future. But apparently there are more then "1" GT3 seats.

1. Is GT3 sports seat and Euro GT3 seat the same thing? (There is also a GT3 seat thats reclinable and not made by recaro right)
2. GT2 and GT3 sport seat the same seats?
3. Have anyone 6'4" and 250lb(40 inch waist) fit in these? I don't drive this car everyday so would care more if it held me in place vs. comfort.
4. It fits on the stock rails right? Does it lower the height vs. stock seats?

Thanks Guys!!!

Mike

you will never fit in the gt3 seats. I am 6'2 and 200lbs. I have a 34in waist and I am pushing the seats to the limit. I would also hate to drive the car daily, they are challenging to get in and out of...

you may want to try the sport seats or a different brand of racing seat..

911 stripper,

So from what I'm getting the GT3 Sport seat and Euro seat is NOT the same seat correct?

996521985018YR is the part number I have been provided.

Thanks,

Mike

There are a set of replica GT3 seats in the marketplace. Maybe a cheap way for you to get into some racing buckets:

Look into the Sparco Evo3 or Evo2 Plus, also the Cobra Suzuka GT.

I am in the same boat, hopefully I'll find a seat I can fit in this weekend at the track event.

Look at the Recaro Speed. Bolsters are not too high and the seats recline for access to the rear.

Only seats I can fit (similar build) comfortably are:

Sparco Evo3s (have to modify tunnel to fit) (cheap though)
Recaro Sportster CS (not fixed-back, so no 5/6pts)

Good luck -- it's a huge pain in the *** (literally) right now.

Unfortunately those will not really fit into our car. Recaro makes the brackets/sliders for the Speed/Sport/LS based seats. I bought the brackets/sliders from Recaro and a set of Sports. The problem is the outboard **** for the recline adjustment on the Speed hits in the back on the floorpan where the sill area angles inward. This prevents the seat from moving back very far at all. You COULD mount the Speed and brackets down into the car, but you'd have to be pretty damn short to even be able to use them. Upon further inquiry from Recaro, they told me that the only reclinable seats that will fit are the older LS-X based seats that have the recline **** higher on the frame, or the full power Sport Topline seat that has no ***** to interfere with fitment. Even on the LS-X based seats you have to remove the inboard recline **** and all the seat frame hardware on that side to clear the tunnel.

Take it from me... Unfortunately I wasted a lot of money buying brackets and seats that basically will not fit.

I am 220 lbs and 34-36 waist. 5'11". I think the gt3 seats fit perfect. They do suck to get in and out of all the time though.

@ HBK: Do you have more room to slide backwards? I don't mind them being hard to get in and out of. But just wonder if I can actually fit in it. I fit in the Recaro Hans and SPG XLs.

@Hams: Same thing happened to me today!!! I had a shop install a Sportster CS and it can only go back so far till it hits the narrow part and because I'm 6'3" this setup won't work!!! What did you end up doing?

I sold my Recaro seat brackets at a loss, kept my Recaro Speed's and recovered them in new leather to match up to my old E36 M3, and ordered a new set of Porsche GT3 seats in boxster red for my car from Suncoast. I ordered them back in November of 2012 and Porsche finally is building them almost 6 months later. I was told by PCNA to expect them in May hopefully... A long road.

If you're a big dude like 6" 200+ and somewhat built not a stick then these will be tight.
I love the gt3 seats but not for big boys

I don't mind tight. I have heard that the GT3 Euro seats are very similar with Recaro's Pole Position in terms of fit.
