Motor Question???

Hey Guys,

I need a little help and not finding my question exactly via search. I'm replacing my motor in my 911 TT that expired on track last summer. I have a line on what I'm told is a 2002 GT2 Motor. In looking over the motor, it looks good, has K24 Turbos etc. However, I'm not finding the magic number that tells me it is a GT2 Motor vs. say a 2002 TT Motor. Maybe there are no differences and it just doesn't matter. However, I'd like to be sure. From reviewing Porsche's PET they have different numbers, not finding those numbers on the Motor.

Is there a difference between an 02 GT2 Motor and an 02 TT Motor? If there are, what is the way to tell them apart?

On the bottom of the case specifically there is the following number, which I can't find in PET either. 964.101.111.5R

Thanks in advance.
Cliff

I think you will find that they are the same. Good luck with the purchase.

Can you tell us how your existing motor expired? Just curious since it doesn't seem to happen too often (fortunately).

Put a hole in piston #2 on the back straight of PIR.

Motor has 54k on it. Most of those miles were spent on the track. At first we thought it ran lean, however, fuel delivery system checks out perfectly. GIAC tune, they show no anomalies, running race fuel. We think it was just time. Of note, the car had been in race program for 1149 hours.

Thanks for the help guys

I would check your wiring harness; with time, these start to fail.
