fender rolling or cutting?
Anyone have their fenders(rear in my case) rolled or ground/cut? I'm worried about the paint cracking.
Also, anyone know of a good place in Chicago area?
thx!

a fellow came to my house to my turbo and that tool wouldnt fit over the hub. 5x130 bolt pattern is bigger than the eastwood roller can accomodate

that tool is what should be used. I have done several cars with the same eastwood tool.
1. Clean the area good and dry it
2. Slowly warm up the area with a heat gun (be careful not to get the area to hot but it should be slightly uncomfortable to touch) while slowly rolling the fender. The heat will prevent your paint from cracking. If you don't use enough heat and go to fast you risk the chance of cracking the paint.
You can you tube the use of the eastwood fender roller tool. It's not hard at all.

Thanks guys, I cancelled the appointment and just bought the Eastwood tool. I have the heatgun and a digital temp so, I'm good there. I will just have to make an adapter for the 130 pattern.
I will attempt it over the weekend and I'll try to do a write up on it. Hope all goes well

No just take you time and don't try and and rush the process. I hae done quite a few fender rolls. (First ones were not great) It just takes patience. You might see what a good shop that has done this b/4 would charge.

I would never roll a fender ever again. First time, I had a local shop roll the rear fenders on my s2000. The paint didn't crack but the panel had buckled. Hard to explain but the fender essentially was no longer smooth and had ridges on it. I asked the shop what happened and they said they have seen it before and can happen.
Second time, I got the eastwood fender roller and tried it myself on my lexus. Lets' just say I had to get it all redone professionally.
Ever since then, I have resorted to trimming my fenders and have done it two times on my other cars.

Ok, I disconnected the shock and anti roll bar. I rolled one rear fender until I can jack the tire/rim all the way up and into the wheel well. It clears the lip by about 1 or 2mm.
Does anyone have a picture of their rolled fender lip? I just want to see if I am on track.
If so, I will write a DIY on it. I took pictures and so far, no paint cracking, buckling or anything funky.
On a side note, my car sits so low, I am now thinking that the rear shock is so close to the bump stop that I don't even think my wheel/tire extends up into the wheel well enough to even hit the lip??
I will have to measure the suspension travel, bump stop and the delta between the shock being extended and compressed to see. I placed a block of wood 4"x4" under the tire and lowered the car. the tire doesn't hit but, I am not sure if I am on the bumpstop or not.
