X50 visual identification?
If you're close enough to read the VIN, then you might as well just pop the frunk and look at the options code list on the sticker just aft of the latch on the underside of the lid. It'll say X50 for, you know, an X50 car.
But I've read a post or two here that allege there are some factory X50 cars that did not have this designation listed on the sticker. I have serious doubts about that and suspect that perhaps rather than at the factory, those cars had the X50 hardware installed by a previous owner.

The way I could tell when I bought mine was that big-*** "$17,800" listed next to the designation "X50 Pkg" on the Munrovie sticker.
Verified, of course, by the X50 on the options tag underhood. I wouldn't have paid that for it new, but it's nice to get for the pennies extra it costs now on the secondary (or in my case tertiary) market.

tertiary!?
lol. ah yes, the cenozoic era. i remember it fondly! my car is old,.. but mammals and apes are much older..
..another simple way to find out at least what the intercoolers are is to feel them. the gt2 i/c's are rough to the touch like a cheese grater ( really ). feel up under the rear vents. smooth ic k16,.. and cheese grater like, ..k24's. but as others mentioned, it should be on the hood bonnet sticker.
another way to self test is punch it.. does your car momentarily bog/lag then hit it's stride on boost? then probably stock ( x50 ) 24's. no or far less "lag"
.. should be stock k16's. actually this test is fairly conclusive when you've driven both setups. most folks know these cars can tell 16's from 24's with the gas pedal test.
all this presupposes an otherwise stock car. ymmv. enjoy it.

Didn't the X50's have the these tips? http://www.sharkwerks.com/forum_phot...hampion_18.JPG
Looking at intercoolers is a good way to tell, if they haven't been switched out.. Lol
the dual tips are often used on non x50 cars. there was an option for that.
the sticker is the best bet to verify the option. a VIN will also confirm as well.
x50 is great, noticeable power (15%) by my butt dyno. sounds great too.
