Red Alert!! Shoot Out...
OK folks... got off the phone with Michelin (thanks for Doug's number Chad) and they're still interested in supporting this event. It's very short notice so I do need to know some stuff from the guys entering:
1)Are we all ok using 18 inch wheels? Are any of you planning on using 19s?
2)Obviously let me know the tire sizes you intend to run...
Thanks

OK so with Duane/Chad probably not being able to make it at that date and a couple of you Emailing me also for more time is December 2nd better for you? The track might have an opening then...
PS I'm still tryin'... just seems tougher than I thought to get this to work

Just gave CJV the contact details for the editor at European Car as he had some questions/suggestions. That brings up the issue of if any of you guys do have questions, then I'll be happy to pass on that same info so you can interface with them.
As I said they want to do this at Willow Springs and GIAC's dyno as it's close to them and they can make arrangements (i.e we don't have to end up paying etc..) and so if December 2nd is still ok with y'all then we should be good to go.

Don't know if December 2nd works for me, I am already committed to the Tail of the Dragon meet in North Carolina Dec 4th through the 6th.
Maybe we should hold off until Spring, unless we can stick to November 17th.

Well Buddy, I've tried my best to get stuff sorted and it's been kinda hard working around everyone's schedules including the Magazine, which has a window in terms of their editorial calendar. If you could try somehow to make it and "gumball" your way over to the East-side
Problem with November 17th is Duabe/CJV can't do it but also there wasn't enough track time available.
Pretty much they were going to book dates and whoever shows up, shows up I guess? I know it's easier on us California guys- sorry about that.
PS I'll go slap myself a few times now lol.

Sharky,
Yeah, the magazine ultimately will have to make their decision on dates and whoever can come will come. If it is December 2nd I will not be there. Just about any other date and I wil be.
Thanks for your work on this!

Sharkey,
I would really like to see a shootout planned for the spring time. My reasons for this are:
1) Would like it held at a time where rain would not be a factor.
2) Formal invitations would be sent to all major tuners world wide.
3) Enough advance notice be given for anyone who wants to attend to be able to prepare their car. I have spoken to Joel @ Autothority and he would attend if he had enough notice.
4) I would like to give other tuners like Manthey, RS Tuning, TTP, Ruf, 9ff, Sportec, Tech9 and others accross the Atlantic an invitation to attend.
5) I would like to see a world class driver(s) performing the testing.
6) Would like to hire a professional organizer/PR company to handle event and bring in sponsors that would then cover the costs of conducting the event correctly.
7) Would like to have technical writers do a write up on each car, explaining exactly what the tuners have done to their cars and how they performed.
8) Would also like to see a photo shoot and public display of the cars at some place like Infineon where the public and the different PCA clubs could come and view the fastest and best 996tt and GT2's in the world.
An event handled in such a way would not have to be tied to a particular magazine as it would be open for free lance writers to cover and would be covered by many magazines. The costs would not be covered by any magazine, but by sponsors.
I believe if a few of us got together we could make this happen. It would take a little time and planning.
Just my opinion.

There can always be one now and one in the spring. What is the minimum hp to participate?
Kudos for Alex being a "doer" and trying to drive this thing to completion. I for one wouldn't care who shows up - I'd just like to start the process and get head to head data on ANY of the tuner solutions.

Hi CJV,
That sounds like a great idea and if it can be done, I'm all for it. In the meantime though, I've tried to get this other one going and would still very much like to see it through on December 2nd. I believe arrangements will be made Monday fo the track, dyno time, insurance and professional drivers, which will all be covered by European Car so all anyone needs to do is just show up at those dates. So far, Fred, myself, Gemballa, Hamman7, mweels and a couple of others (possibly Duane we don't know yet) can and want to go ahead with it. The magazine will also contact a couple of other tuners to make sure that 8-10 cars show up. So it's still an open invitation to anyone...
It seems like we're so close to getting it done that I really don't want to just pack it in and then hope we can get it going again next year
