Thanks guys, judging by this response I'm guessing that there really are enough of us to do this and enough of you guys that want to get it done As luck would have it Dan and Les are at SEMA so I've yet to hear back but their last words were "We're not fussed, we've done this before and there are always a few that don't show up, so whoever is there is there". So I'm still assuming that it'll be at GIAC's dyno and Willow Springs December 2nd-3rd. I'll let you know as soon as I hear what dates they've booked.

Buddy if they change the date to December 7th or something I'll let you know also. I guess it all depends on when the track is available.

Will keep y'all posted.

One more thing since Asgar/Ruf stated they were too busy to do this particular event does anyone with a RuF feel like entering? It would be a shame not to have a RuF....

How about inviting Ruf Racer's very special 993 Ruf Turbo?

Heck why not, does anybody object to that? I mean a RuF is a RuF afterall, whether that be a 996tt or a 993tt? As long as nobody objects at the mag either (can't see why they would).... Hopefully Ruf-Racer is ok with that.

I think an evaluation of this sort is a good idea. Hopefully it will demonstrate that a few thousand dollars expended on professional instruction and track time will yield a "faster" car than $40,000 in mods.

Any 996TT with over 550 HP is simply unbalanced for track use unless significant brake and suspension upgrades have also been made. With this kind of power, you will simply kill the brakes in short order and put yourself at risk.

Good luck with the contest. If you venture to VIR, THe GLen, or Mid Ohio I am in.

This is probably why I won't come to this meet, as it has the potential to turn into a series of impromptu fast and furious races down a public road.

No one can safely get to the limit of a stock TT, much less your car, on a public road.

Maybe if they somehow blocked off the entire run to public traffic, and ran in one direction, then I would be more inclined.

Lets pick a track on the east coast and meet there. Mid Ohio or VIR are fine with me.

OK, great. I usually do the April or May PCA event there with Potomac region. I would love to see your car.

Also we need to make sure we are running equivalent tire choices, either both on streets, Hoosiers, or I would prefer slicks.

Now I hope you are not a pro or semi pro driver and are sandbagging me!

My email is heelntoe@carolina.rr.com so lets stay in touch to coordinate.

Just figured I'd ask one more time if there's anyone out there with a RuF 996 car that fancies going to this shoot out event? I know transporting the car out from another state is a PIA but this will be a lot of fun, plus it will attract lot's of ladies. Tyson told me that LA girls only likfe RuF cars.

Also guys, tomorrow I'll get an update from the mag as long as they've gotten back from SEMA. It's almost like the whole industry is AWOL this week

Many of us are going to Tail of the Dragon to meet the people we chat with on these boards, see some awesome cars and to share our common love of Pcars. Although I can not speak for everyone, there are many of us that are going to drive the road in a safe manner and do not plan on engaging in any "racing" as you put it. So your reason for not attending is not valid as it is YOUR choice to engage or not.. So come for the social aspects and good times to be had for all... And just enjoy the collection of cars and board members... Your so close it would be a shame to miss out... Hope to see you there..

Hi Gary, have you tracked your car yet? Reason I ask is because I have done the social events and they are indeed lots of fun and informative. But tracking your car is a total different experience. Just curious as you would have SO MUCH fun with your car. I wish I was on the East coast for this can't miss event.

Fred,

I have not tracked my car yet. I know that I will love it which is why I am hesitant. I have that type "A" personality where when I start something I get obsessed... I was at the Rolex races this past weekend at Daytona and can see how addicting it gets. I was getting the bug just walking through where they were getting the cars ready to run... I'm sure I will track it in the future... I am also going to PDE early next year. I have a few buddies that track at Sebring all the time.. They are hounding me all the time to join them...

RSR,

Up till now you have not asked me about my driving experience but since you brought it up.

I have trained at Skip Barber Racing school in Sebring Florida, I have competed in the Formula Dodge race series for many years. I competed at the professional level for 2 years in stock cars in the ASA series. And I have done more DE's than I can count. But other than that I am just your average driver!!
