My keyless entry was working fine when I was running a few errand this weekend. When I arrived at my 3rd stop, I get out and the key fob won't open lock the doors. Nothing.

I assumed the battery was dead and locked the car with the key and finished my errand. I went to a battery store and puchased a new battery, and the fob still won't work.

Still not concerned, I figured 6speedonline would have the answer.

Earlier this week I did a search and tried the recommended unlocking the car with the key, turning on the ignition and pushing the button, but no luck.

Any other recommendations?

This is one of my pet peeves with Porsche. Unless you somehow managed to keep the code for that key, it's expensive and a PITA to have it reset at the dealership. Overengineering at it's finest.

Good luck - hopefully you find a cheap, easy solution.

 

First try resetting the fob. To do this you install the battery reverse polarity for 10 seconds and then install it properly. If this does not work, you likely will need the fob to be re-programed. You will need PST2 or PIWIS to do this.

 

i recently had mine fail also, and rather than the battery or simple "reset" it was the innards that failed. if that happened to yours, need a new fob w electronics and then you have to have it coded by the dealer for an hour labor.

 

was the red light on dash flashing, indicating signal receipt?

For me, depending on angle or which piece of glass the signal is directed thru, response can vary.

Did you try the trunk latch? when I have issues with the doors, I pop the trunk, first. it has better remote response for some reason.

 

My key did this the other day. I dropped it and when I went to unlock the car, the remote did not work. I unlocked the car manually, closed the door, and tried the remote again. Lo and behold it was working again.

 

It won't open the truck either.

 

I've probably opened the door manually 25+ times and it still doesn't work.

I have a spare key that I bought that needs to be programed, I guess I might need to have both of them programmed now.

hopefully they would only charge you as if it were one since it's not exactly "labor" intensive for them. if my spare gives out, it will give me the excuse i need to upgrade the fob at the same time. it's like $400-450 all in incl parts for a key. sheesh.

 

I already have the Carrera GT fob.

does the light still blink red on the fob? mine did even with dead guts.
