MrBlonde,

On the day we bent all six rods we were testing two new items, the turbo's and the S Car Go/Tilton clutch. The car was being launched at 7000 rpm's. The only part that failed was the rods. The complete drivetrain from the tranny to the front axles have been changed and strenghtened. Our times are fast not only due to the power, but also the gearing. No need to shift through well past sixty and only need three gears to almost 150.

Back in 2003 we had a 1.6 sixty foot time. We have beat that since then by a little.

Who's talking about 130 mph? I am talking about 150 mph. That 20 mph difference will add seconds to you time, not tenths of a second. And yes, I am an expert at drag racing. More than 2,000 runs, 35 years, wins and losses, twisted axles, etc. You'll have to reduce your weight by 500 pounds, extremely cold intake temps, and change the stock tranny to even gain 10 MPH.
Referring to your above list and Chad's (CJV) car:

Reduce weight by 500 pounds == check
Extremely cold intake temps == check
Change the stock tranny == check

I think Chad has done all of the above and more I don't doubt that when he is all done he could trap at 150 mph in fact it
could be more. Now saying this and doing it are two different
things so we will just have to be patient and see.

You might want to check out this thread to get an idea of
what Chad has done to his car, or more appropiately what
he hasn't done is a much shorter list!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, i was talking about their GT640 package lol, it was after a Stg.4 so technically its a stage 5, oh well
My car is very different from a GT640 go to pes-tuning.com look at the Stage 5 and then add internals, EVO intake, EVO air inlet tubes, EVO boost hoses and then you are close to my car plus the flywheel, clutch, KW suspension, brakes, etc....

Stage 5 Mongrel I like to call it!

I hope he does it. However, running Nitros is cheating IMO. I prefer to use raw mechanical mods to acheive maximum power using whatever evironmental conditions exist. The only tank I want to have to fill up for my car to run at maximum performance, is my gas tank. I have run with and without NOS and have to say that I am more proud of the non NOS cars that were slower because of the sucess in obtaining mechnical power rather than chemical power.

Maybe it all about being a purist in engine building.

I agree about NOS I would not want to use it. But it is not exactly cheating as many, many drag cars use Nitrous.

A 996TT could definately trap 150, it would just need about a 1000rwhp.... Porsches can do it. Eddie Bello was doing 8.9@169 in a street car with drag radials in 1998...

Ahh i see, im going to check it out. That's pretty much the route i was going with mine when i get it, maybe even more extreme if i feel the need for more power LOL!! Damm cant wait to see updated times from your car with everything properly running right

I love the denigration to what these cars can't do as opposed to the things they can..

Infer whatever you like, i'm implying nothing.

I read the entire thread and there isn't a single mention of an ET or trap speed, no timeslips or movies of a pass.

There is a very interesting story of engineering ideas and concepts that seem to evolve and change constantly. The sheer cost of the procurement, labour and R&D is staggering for a street car.

I don't know if this car will ever be built, if it will reach 1,500 bhp, if it will run decent numbers at a drag strip or if it will make Chad happy. But I do know S Car Go is happy.

That's why the French invented the work POTENTIAL. Never accomplish anything, but we could. IF.................

I wasn't laughing at your car....I was laughing at ...who'd think a Porsche would run those times??? Move over muscle car guys...

I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember the EVO car trapping above 140 mph at one of the shootouts, no? And from what I remember it wasn't even a good launch.
