Pilot Super Sport - 325/30/19 - do they fit
looking for feedback on PSS in 997 gt2rs sizes. I need new tires, and looking at options other than the PS2 315/25/19s. I am rear wheel, so dont worry about having to match the fronts. My rear fenders are slightly rolled.
Is anyone running these, or does anyone know how the size up against the ps2's - because not all tires are made the same size as i have found out in the past
thanks

theyre huge. how big is the wheel theyre going on ? same size as ps2's.
any pics of the car ? how low is it etc ?
did you order the tires yet ? if yes, put em on and see what happens, depending on your wheel offset, ride height, alignment specs, you might be ok.
youre doing a 245 35 up front right ? if not, you might mess with your ABS
edit: not sure if you have a turbo or a gt2, if gt2 you will be fine because the fenders are rolled.

Currently running 315/25/19 - at gt2 ride hit with 19x12 rims. Car is a turbo, but i have rolled the fenders and running gt2 fender liners.
I am rear wheel with 997 gt2rs gearbox, but as your pointed out, i will be changing fronts as well to 245 or 255.
Honestly, i think the 25 profile in the rear is slightly to small for the car, but was worried about changing width, profile and tire type all at the same time. Probably going to go for it and see what happens, as i dont think many in the 996 world are running this size.

I have the 305 30 19 on my BBS CHR's, 305 rubbed initially on the inner liner, I suppose anything is possible if you want to modify, also depends on your wheel offset. I know on my CHR's 325 would not fit without some kind of work, possibly some small spacers and I could pull it off. Depends on your motivation.
FYI, I have NITTO Invo 315 25 19 on there previously. The 305 PSS seem just as wide.

Rear GT2 fender liners: 996.504.623.90 and 996.504.624.90
Rear GT2 liner brackets: 996.504.353.91 and 996.504.354.91
My car has GT2 fender liners both front and rear. The rear GT2 fender liners are actually the same exact part as the TT fender liners. They come out of the same mold as the TT liners. They have the TT part number molded into the plastic liner itself and a sticker with a different GT2 part number printed on it. The only difference is that there is an additional hole punched into the side of the fender liner for where the shorter GT2 attachment bracket is bolted. This is what gives you the extra clearance down by the IC hose since the liner in the GT2 application attaches on the side via a short bracket as opposed to the long bracket that attaches the fender liner down by the IC hose and takes up some valuable room. With out the TT brackets you get maybe an extra 3/8" clearance. Without the GT2 brackets the fender liners in and of itself does not gain you anything. Even so, I heated and flattened the "GT2/TT" liner a little bit to gain as much room as possible.
Regarding the OPs question, there is no way you will be able to fit a 325/30/19 tire on a 996TT/GT2 unless you ran pretty much a stock ride height which would negate any performance benefit. My car runs 26.4" rear tires (1.3" bigger than stock) and even with all the GT2 liner/bracket stuff, rolled fenders, stiff race suspension, +2.3 rear camber, clearance is very very tight at about 1/2" below GT2 ride height. With that said, due to the large diameter, a 305/30/19 or 305/35/18 will give you a larger contact patch than the short 315/25/19 or 315/30/18. Look at Cup cars, they all run a large diameter rear tire but not really all that wide. If you're set on 19" than Super sports are a great choice in a 305/30/19 or Sport Cups if you want a lighter grippier tire. I have a set of 19x9x12s with N spec Bridgestone RE50a tires in a 305/30/19 and have been happy with them for the street. No complaints and reasonably priced for Porsche N spec tire at about $1300 for the set. They also run a little wider than either the 305/30/19 Super sports or Sport Cups which helps them sit a little more square on a 12" wheel. For track (and street really), 18s are the way to go with no drawbacks. For an awesome low cost street/DE/track set up, I'm a huge fan of the 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 NT01 combo. The new 305/35/18 size is 1" taller and virtually the same width as the the 315/30/18 but provides less rollover and more grip due to it's stiffer sidewall and larger contact patch. Unlike MPSC, 888s, or Hohos, the NT01s are good all the way to the cords and relatively quiet on the street.

Thanks for the reply guys.
As you pointed out, the fender liners are no good without the gt2 brackets. I have changed both of these along with tweaking and heating the inside. I have a loot of room on the inside. However, I can see that I have slightly rubbed the edge of the bumper where it connects to the body. I am running spaces that are pushed way out.
These tires are specifically for the street, I have a set of ccw's for the track running 265/335 front and rear.
I have seen a number of 305 vs 315 tire discussion - however its the first that I have heard about a greater contact patch. Essentially, your saying the larger diameter 305/30 contacts the ground more. I can understand this and I guess it makes sense. The reason I raised the question was because the 997 gt2rs now runs this larger tire, however I could not find any reference to someone fitting them.
Whiterock - is your car a 996 or 997?
