The oil is at the bottom bar.

So I was going to get the car to the operating temperature, turn the car off , pour in a 1/4 of a quart and turn on the car and take a new reading.

Anyone know the amount of oil it usually takes when its on the bottom line? Also can I keep the car running the whole time?

Anyone? I am about to do it myself in about 30 minutes….

Just need to know if its ok to have the car running when doing the top off and taking readings or just off and at operating temps?

No, I was going to put in a 1/4 quart then take a reading, another 1/4 quart, another reading……etc

I bought 2 quarts…..

sounds like its a qt low. i would add at least 1/2 qt at op temp and check it again, add as needed. while running is fine. iirc? each line represents 1/5 qt on the gauge.

lol. 1/4 or 1/5.. either way you're at least 3/4 qt low

It will easily take a full quart if the reading is on the bottom bar.
Doesn't matter if it is cold or hot, running or off when adding the oil.

I typically fill mine to 1/2 to 3/4 from full (top bar). In my mind, it helps lessen the occasional smoke at startup. I let the oil go down as low as the bottom bar then back up to about half.

you can do it with the car on or off, cold or hot, doesnt matter (you already have your reading). add the entire quart, you wont be topped off with a quart, you'll be where you need to be. (1 bar remaining = its full)

I recall it is 1.3 quarts between the add and full mark. Typical dipstick full/empty is 1 quart for most other vehicles.

Leave it running. add a quart you are good. bottom line is one quart to fill, actually 1 liter. Engine has to be at temp to get reading

if it were me? i'd be a bit more mindful of the level moving forward. i used to check mine at every long stoplight lol. thankfully, i've let that obsession go.

I used to keep mine full and had smoke at startup. Now that I keep it about half I dont have that issue anymore.
