DIY In Tank Fuel Pump Upgrade. (pic heavy)

I would have to disagree based on my experience. I've had multiple 044s fail using E85. The walbro E85 450 has been working out much better for me. We have been running this setup in my car for a long time.

044's (in my opinion) are more reliable, as they are used in day to day driving and I had more luck with them. Walboro 400 E85's do have higher flow numbers.
Another advantage of 997 setup - it eliminates the in tank rubber hose that, at times, cracks (especially with e85 use) and leaves most mechanics puzzled as it produces no codes.
Last I heard, and am not 100%, Chris G. in his GT2 used 2 Walboro 400/E85's that ran 9s. Maybe someone car use 997 sump with two Walboro e85's as it may be sufficient?

I would imagine things change on case basis. My in-tank walboro feeding the sump failed...

one of the reasons I ditched the sump. if my walbro fails my car wont run since my big pumps only come on with power.

Sump is long gone for me as well. Just trying to figure out the best in-tank solution as the current outside setup is too loud.

Nice write up Tim. Bout time there is a good techy thread up here. IMO This is way better then doing an inline 044 for a 1000$.
In my car Tim and I are actually using this same setup to run and drive the car with a Walbro 450 in stock location. When it comes on power the ProEFI turns on the big boy pumps that are sumped into the bottom of the tank.
This pump flows way more then a 044, its quiet and fits in stock location since its smaller then the factory pump where 044 is bigger and wider (needs basket trimming to fit 044)

Check valve
Tim,
First off, great write up.
But you sparked a question for me. You wrote that when reassembling, you left off the check valve (little silver inline valve that is near the famed U hose). What is the purpose of removing it?
I ask because I am having a problem now with warm starts (cold starts are fine), where the engine has to turn for 10 seconds or so before it fires up and my tuner suggested it was that check valve failing. I was planning to take one off on of my two failed 044's, but can I simply remove it? Would that cure the long crank warm starts?
Thanks

10ft is barely enough. You want 10ft + 3ft of 6an line to be safe. Then mount the fuel filter near the gearbox and use 3ft to go from the gearbox to the fuel rail.
