I was wondering what gas stations you guys prefer for E85??


My buddy has mentioned to me from time to time that he has to go to the "good" e85 gas stain as suppose to some aren't?



Do you guys test the fuels from the gas stations and judge it on that?



Also do you guys bulk order e85 at times and store, lets say, a 55 gallon drum??

 

No direct E85 experience but I'd think the same selection criteria for choosing and with the goal of getting the "best" gasoline would apply in choosing the best E85 gasoline. Primarily buy from a name brand station and buy from a busy station, one that sells a quantity of E85. Ask how often the station gets its E85 storage tank replenished.

 

First you should ask your tuner and your builder that question. If you tune for E85 and you put E70 in which is whats in our parts for most of the year you will be in trouble quick. You are doing lots of research and wont find the answer you are looking for. The answer is in the hands of those who paid to play. Oh if you think your knock sensor is going to save you on E fuels..... That bit is free..

 

Buy a tester. It's like 10 bucks. Changes all the time.

 

I've heard there's quite a bit of variation between batches and through the seasons. Definitely don't want your tune to be overly aggressive and without knock compensation for those batches lower in octane.

Cause u have no idea what I'm doing or what I have. I asked specifically about e85 from stations.....nothing else. I'm sure u think I'm still using the same tune and tuner....by ur comments about the knock sensor and how that's a stipulation uve battled with epl with in other threads about their tuning.

 

You just let me and everyone else know that you know nothing about E fuels. I stated nothing about tuners other then "First you should ask your tuner and your builder that question" You will do just fine figuring this out on your own. PS I have no beef with Tony, but yet again you are jumping the gun and assuming things. I state that the factory ecu is band aided to make high hp. At around 900+/- on E fuels you are fooling yourself with thinking the stock 996 ecu is capable. Since you could not figure out what a good E85 gas station from a bad one here is some help, You will not find a gas station that will have E85 all year round. You will need to test and mix it with E99 to get E85 in your tank. Its funny how you ask the world and when someone tells you how it is you jump all over them. Good luck

It's easy, add water shake and wait for the fuel to separate (~3 to 5 mins)

 

E85 is typically seasonal with variation (that I have seen) between E90 and E70. I usually see E70 in the winter due to the cold start issues associated with the use of E85 (because of the higher gas content in E70, it is easier to start the car during the winter). Hope this helps....

 

You can buy E85 by the drum, but be warned that E85 absorbs moisture from the air. So unless you plan to use the fuel frequently, it may not be wise to store the fuel for extended periods of time.

 

No I'm asking what people thought if they found, let's say perhaps that the Sunoco e85 was consistently better then let's say Valero. That's what I was asking. I know a lot of talk about winter and summer blend but then there are lots of people that don't think there really is a difference.

Also at the same extent a standalone isn't needed at my power level, plus you have no idea if I'm using the stock ecu. Btw there are people disagree with you in relation to tuning and using the stock ecu to help make a tune better by adapting. No one makes a perfect tune. Tim ur a builder not a tuner, let's keep it at that.

Btw I will find the thread from 2 years ago I read a week Ago u disagreeing with Tonys tuning and riding the knock sensor.


I would appreciate if u stayed outside my threads because u have had personal issues with me since I did NOTchoose u to do my build even though u live around the corner......for numerous reasons I would rather not say on a public forum for your benefit...
