Front diff binding at full turn
Front diff binding at full turn
I'm running 235/35/19(f) and 315/25/19(r), every joe under the sun is doing the pretty much same thing and the wheel manufacturer recommends the same as well. All seems fine except un the morning when I have to pull the car out of the garage. I notice some binding at full turn. Anyone else running into this issue?
Not every Joe is running 19's. Those of us that are into performance keep the stock 18" wheel size.

Is it cold outside when this happens? Is it like a bad CV joint? Feels like the outside wheel is pushing/skipping at full lock? My car has been doing the same thing for years. I had Porsche check it out when my car had 5k miles...they said it is nothing to worry about. I was skeptical so they had another new TT there....it did the same thing.
FYI I am running 19"s as well.

Yeah, it's cold as hell here right now. You are correct, almost like a bad CV. Only at full lock at sloooooo speed. Never see full lock at high speed anyhow. I'll get it on the lift and see if anything is up. Thanks.
I think you'll see that on a warm day, over clean dry pavement it goes away. I would check it out anyway just to be safe.
I've noticed this too now that it's gotten really cold out. And I don't have to be at full lock. It's like the front diff is acting up on something. Almost sounds too annoying to be a CV boot torn. But it's only when it's cold and very slow.

Like I said, this is "normal" according to my P mechanic. My car has done it since new.
Have the diff/CV joints/cardan shaft checked but the symptom is probably front tire scrubbing under slow speed full lock turns that happen when one is pulling out of or into a parking space.
Cold weather just makes this much more likely to occur but worn/heat cycled and hard front tires can do this at other times too.
My 996 Turbo does this now in cold weather and it has the stock 18" wheels/tires fitted. The fronts are getting some miles on them and while they have plenty of tread I'm sure they are getting harder from the heat cycling.
