Central Locking Problem

Anybody able to confirm what's going on with my central locking?

The button inside the car works fine, and the car locks itself when I drive away as it should do

But, when I press the button on my key to lock the car and set the alarm it locks itself correctly, but then unlocks itself after a second or two, and I get two beeps from the siren

I think it could be the micro switch on the drivers door causing the fault, as I've recently replaced my drivers window regulator

Maybe the micro switch isn't fitted correctly

Is there anything else I should consider before I pull my doorcard off?

I'm going to plug my durametric in when I get home to see if there's a specific code

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the two beeps mean that something is still open. I get the two beeps when I lock my car while the rear engine lid is open.

or it could possibly be the locking armrest in the center console. if it's not firmly closed or if the microswitch gets tweaked, you'll get the double beep. Though... Your situation is likely not that if it's unlocking the doors again. Whenever my console isn't closed, I just get beeps but the car doesn't unlock... Hmm...

For open passenger door, center console, engine/trunk lids & glove box, you get a single beep. For a fault in the alarm system you get two beeps. For your error I would bet on the drivers door sensor.

I had the same issue twice with my 6tt. RH door and LH door. The micro switch in the locking assembly failed.....due to ice ingress and being totally frozen. My aftermarket warranty paid for each repair.
Ironically every time I went to the main dealer I would see at least one 996 in the workshop with a door card off .

Hello ant! This switch can be replaced without replacing the complete lock assembly. Look here for info: http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...r&fromsearch=1

JP:
I'll have a read of those links this afternoon
Fingers crossed there's something on there that solves it

FRANK:
How's things mate?
Good to see you're still on the forum

How are things going with the Cosworth?
I haven't been on here for a while so I've probably missed quite a bit

Hope you're still enjoying it
I'm picking up another car in a couple of weeks
Renault Clio Williams
I had one when they first came out and I've missed it ever since
I remember thinking it was the fastest thing on the planet

Hi Ant,

Im fine mate thanks for asking. No change in my Palsy, it is for life so just getting on with it. I cant breath very well and cant free dive any more but its better than being dead.
As to the Cosworth, I still have it under cover and cover over as well. Its just a Sunny day toy..........so that means it never goes out

I bought an 08 Bentley continental GT Speed last May so I'm now on the 6speed Bentley forum https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/bentley-42/ ( I still come on here from time to time just to see what's going on....Pork is still in the blood lol)
Its a W12 6 ltr 602 bhp Twin Turbo and has the same power to weight and performance figures as a standard 996tt manual car except top end is 202 mph ( not that means much on our roads).

Are you keeping the Porka??? Renault Clio Williams is a nice car, but you must keep the Porka!! Get 9E to breath on your 911, 650 bhp will leave you breathless and is all you need on public roads
Ive got a Lap Top version of the PST2 if you want , its the pukka system, hardware and software just in lap top form. PM me if your interested.

Keep in touch mate, you know we have a big B&B so if your up this way perhaps having a hoon on the great loch roads, pop in and say hello /coffee etc....
Frank

Hi JP hope all is well?
Frank
