Porsche fault code 125-oil temp

This is the fault that keeps coming up with Durametric. I have searched and could not find much. I don't have any issues and no problems checking oil. I installed a new temp sensor with no change. Advise would be appreciated. Thank you!

Well everything to the DME checks out! Strange thing is I have no problems checking the oil level Looks to me like if the temp sensor circuit was having issues, I wouldn't be able to get up to temp to check oil level.

Now I'm wondering if I should replace DME or leave it alone. If I did replace DME, would I loose function of my Durametric cable and my software flash?

BTW...This code was always in the DME from when I first got the car in November.

If it truly is in the dme no need to replace it. You can have yours rebuilt much cheaper. I'm guessing that's not the issue .

Probably not the issue but I would clean connector at sensor.

I have proper resistance with my ohm meter at the DME from the sensor. If you think it's not the DME, I would be willing to try what you suggest. By following the flow chart from the PDF AdamNoone sent me everything is correct. If I disconnect the sensor, I'm not able to check the oil. If I clear the code while engine is at operating temp, the code does not come back until engine cools off and I restart. Code registers and stays, and then when engine warms up, I can check oil level and clear code....EVERY TIME

donnie i don't have an answer for you but if you want i can connect you with my shop. they had layinbacks dme rebuilt and they also have another place that rebuilds dme's.

from my experience i was told my injector driver was likely toast and needed a new dmd. bought a used unit had all the immobilizer codes and such swapped over. 800$ later i had the exact same problem as before. dme wasn't the issue.

the shop can have yours inspected and then you could decide if you want rebuilt new or used. i think dgreen has a used dme for around 800$

do you think the coolant sensor could be the culprit? if the engine rads oil level when warm but not cold maybe the coolant sensor is interacting with the oil sensor in some way

Thank you. I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone as it is not causing any issues. It only shows up when I read it with Durametric. I keep going back to "if it ain't broke don't fix it"...lol

Well it gets better! Today out of the blue I start car, put it in gear and idle climbs to 1150 and accelerator has no response! Code is P1266. I cannot find good info for P1266. Since I have had the car I have had the accelerator not respond on few occasions, shut ignition off, restart and work perfectly. I forgot the code but it was tps code. Any clue what the P1266 might be? Thanks in advance.

Good luck

Thank you. That makes sense as to the other faults that just pop up I think it has been bad for a long time as the Car Fax shows the instrument cluster has been changed a couple times when it was new and and service history shows electrical issues for service visit. How hard is it to program new DME (or do you have to) and can I change it myself? Do I have to get a DME specifically for a Tip? I sure hope this is the last of the "surprises" for this car because I really like it, but I do not tolerate vehicles that keep giving problems

Funny thing is, I had never seen that code till today. I connected the Durametric cable and had my laptop connected and was opening the Durametric software while I decided to move car to shade inside building. I started her up and BAM!

I doubt its the ecu... ecus go bad from grounding out issues... and someone playing with wires touching them etc...
disconnect the battery... try again... do a quick pressure test just to make sure no vacuum leaks etc... the oil temp sensor is usually from a loose wire on the oil sending unit...
the ecu just doesn't go bad on its own... its usually human error
good luck

You should know me by now! I leave no stone unturned! This is not new with this car! I wish someone could recognize this car and give me some history. It's personal now and I will find the issue. I will keep this one as a parts runner and get a .2 for my garage at home..
