Heading to the track!
Heading to the track!
I will be at Grattan Raceway Friday thru Sunday with the RED BEAST! It has been 2 years since my last DE and I am very excited!
I am also going to be quite cautious since I have not been on the track with this much power. I might have to dial it down to the pump gas program to make it manageable.
Bob M will also be there with his black tt.

In case you guys want to check out the track we will be at this weekend, go to
http://www.grattanraceway.com
Another place to get info on the event is to google Western Michigan Porsche Club and go to Driving Events, where you will find Grand Prix of Grattan. Grattan is a very technical track that includes elevation changes, blind turns, a very off camber turn and even a "jump!" I really like this track, it is a real rush to drive.
It will be a 3 day event; experienced drivers on Friday, the regular DE starting on Saturday and a time trial ending the event Sunday afternoon. There will be a Saturday night pig roast at the track as well.
As far as cars go, a Carerra GT has been entered! and the friend who owns it is quite a talented driver. It will be my first chance to hear a GT under full throttle in performance conditions. That will be a real treat! If this doesn't seal the Buddy's desire, nothing will!! A funny aside ... I have been told there is no real classification for this car yet, except out of this world, but in Porsche terms, it will be classified as street stock. You can count on pictures video and anything else we can do to document the whole thing.
A Noble is also entered. This is one car I really want to check out too. In total, there are 75 drivers, so I bet there will be some other interesting cars coming that I don't know about yet.
I am really looking forward to watching Buddy go for it in The Red Beast too. The staight is long enough for some decent speeds. Last year I saw about 140 mph before getting on the brakes, so Buddy ought to really be impressive with all that HP!
Anyway, it will be a great time. Count on reports, pictures etc to follow. Maybe some of you all could make it out to next year's event. Might be a great focus for a 6speed get together.

Buddy,
Since you are relatively close, have you ever done Brainerd International in Mn? Do you want to? I will be doing several events in 06 with the Nord Stern up there. Sick *** track! 1 mile long straight, turn 1 is heavily banked (145-150mph with stickies) and 9 other great turns. I know its a ways away, but I will keep all of the midwest guys posted. FYI, there is the last event of the year on 30th of Sept trough 2ns of Oct.
