What check valves are your referring to? Did they change out the valve at the top of your fuel tank (the one that sticks out sideways)?

No. The boost check valves in the engine bay.

I have close to 100 hard track hour on my gearbox and only had the 3rd gear synchro replaced as it appeared slightly worn even though it gave no issues. I believe the key to a long lasting gear box are frequent oil changes and an effective gear box fluid cooler. I change gear oil every 6-8 track days and max oil temp I see is 225F even on the hottest days.

i'm sure you're right. my car had seen a lot of track time before i got it and it does not have the add'l cooling you have that seems like such a wise upgrade for tracking. so i'm not certain about what contributed to the failing of my bearing(s). only was told that the heat can/will get to them eventually. i'm not at sustained heat so i'm pretty sure this box is now good for the life of the car.

since i don't put the stress on my gbox that you do, but i'm very diligent and fully agree with you about running fresh oil in it especially as i'd like my last "refresh" to be my last on this box and i've got fresh delvac in now and my trans shifts like butter. as to the bearings, i was told they are "encased"? and as a result can dry out. i just figured the more frequent and intense the heat ( esp tracking ), the more prone the grease inside the bearings is to drying out? or anyway so i am told. but i've seen pics where the bearings were actually like melted putty after opening. mine weren't that bad but once bad ya gotta open it up. was a blessing anyway since it gave me a reason to put in the wavetrac ( i know what you think of em, but its a 100% gain over stock

anyway.. porsche's recommendation of gearbox oil change intervals is nuts. all i know lol apologies 996twins for rambling in yer thread! sheesh...

Ramblings are good. There is something always something to learn or ponder.
