Can you fit 997tt 6spd gearbox in 996tt?
I would like to buy a slightly used 997tt gearbox for my car as current one has had toooo many repairs already and it's time to start with a fresh one I believe.
I would prefer 997tt box because it is with newer/better parts and the gear ratios (shorter 3-6) would be better for me (only track driving and I have big rear tires).
Is this possible? Anything needed for this swap?

Kai,
Ideally get a GT2 gearbox or put a cooler on the 997TT gearbox. It's go a long way towards prolonging its life. I have almost 100 hard track hours on my box with only the 3rd gear synchros changed once. Hottest I've seen on my box with the cooler is 225F.

Does the GT2 come with a cooler from factory? If so, can this be added to a normal turbo transmission as a direct bolt on? If not what other options are there for 996 Turbo trans coolers?

Yes, a GT2/3 comes from the factory with a liquid to liquid cooler using engine coolant. I had a custom air to liquid cooler added to my gearbox. Oil is drawn from the box right at the LSD clutches (hottest part) by a Mocal pump, run through a filter and cooler (radiator) and dumper back into the forward portion of the gearbox at the mainshaft. Cooling air is routed over the oil cooler via ducting in the belly pan. The oil pump is activated via a thermostatic switch or a manual override switch. You can find a detailed write up on this I posted a couple of years ago.
