Stage 3 and 4 Questions
Stage 3 and 4 Questions
To all you power junkies:
I have a stage 2 setup on my 01 996tt. I want to go to stage 3 or 4.
I have been told by EVO and others that use GIAC software that the same software is used in stage 3 and 4. The only difference in the packages is the headers.
That being the case, what turbos should I go with? GT2 K24's or Kevins stage II hybrids?
With either one, what HP and TQ am I looking to gain.
I have also been told that with the stage 3/4 software (because they are the same) the K24's will spool like K16's?
Others have told me that the K24's will not spool like K16's even with the stage 3/4 software
Sorry with all the questions, but I just want to make the right decision the first time.

Even with the stage 3/4 GIAC program. The K24 will not spool up as fast as the K16. I can comfrim it cuz I done couple runs with my friend's Turbo S with GIAC program. I can jump 1 car lenght at start. But at the high end (200km/h +), stage 3 will eat our stage 2.
So peak HP is not everything, depends on how you drive your TT. City drive, I will stay at stage 2. If you do lots of high end run, stage 3 or 4 is for you!

Ray - what stage program did your friend have? Did he have an exhaust, intake, and DV's too? Also - this may be a stupid question, but the turbo S has the K24's right?
Thanks

Re: Stage 3 and 4 Questions
I've also been thinking about putting GIAC Stage 3 or 4 on my car, but EVO saying Stage 3 and 4 use the same software has me a little perplexed.
If Stage 3 has ~550hp and Stage 4 has ~600hp, then the headers alone account for a 50hp difference? And if its the same software, why does the Stage 4 program cost $400 more than Stage 3 program (http://www.evoms.com/p996tt%20computer.htm)?

I believe it is the same software. The 600 hp is with the headers on high octane fuel. The extra $400 is for the 100+ octane program? Here are the part #'s of the K24 Turbos courtesy of Loren @ Renntech.org.

Well...
I did stage by stage from 1 to 4 and the Stage 4 software is different. Maybe today is another story.
However I did run stage 3 and honestly just stay with Stage 2, only go 3 if you plan soon to go 4 beacuse that is a big smile in you face
4 is the way to go...just adictive.
