996TT PCCBs and road racing....

As somewhat of a noob to road racing, anything you guys recommend on the a stock 2003 PCCB setup, other than replacing them with a steel rotor setup etc? Are the stock PCCB pads good and strong enough for aggressive driving as long as they are replaced accordingly? If not, what pad options are out there for the PCCBs?

Car has pss9 and R888s on 18" Fikses. Just did an event and in the rain out of all times. I was nervous because of reading R888s being terrible in the rain. Needles to say, I learned a TON in the rain and was very surprised on how well the whole car performed all day. Several spin outs by other cars and mine got tail happy twice but controllable. Glad my other track junkies pushed me to continue with the event even in the rain.

GT2 brake ducts + good fluid should be good for basic tracking...'03 will still have Gen.1 discs though...

I know track guys that take off the ceramics as soon as they acquire the car. Save them for eventual resale of the car. Just too expensive if they break.

PCCB=Porsche Cars and Coffee Brakes
Steel=track

Get some good floating slotted rotors with aluminum hats (like Girodisc)along with PFC pads. 08 front, 11 rear. Floating steel rotors are only marginally heavier than PCCBs..

Wow - this is interesting. I thought carbon brakes were "better" and therefore more desirable because of the no/less fade/rust/dust situation. Yet people are actively removing them? Is this just due to cost? I also heard they squeal a lot around town. Just curious...

They generally get destroyed within 10 hard track days. Race pad selection for PCCB is also very poor..

Which setup are you currently running in your car?

Thanks for providing options and which ones to look for. I went to the Girodisc site and holy moly, just for the four rotors its $4,800 without shipping and without the pads. I know that is cheaper than replacing the PCCBs but man!

I might have to limit my track days for now.

Its definitely what I thought and a big plus when I purchased the car, but looks to be a bad option for constant track days, which is my main goal.

Complete front and rear 350/350 Giro set retails for $2400, not $4800. I have a couple of extra 350/350 sets here if you need.

Oh, I must if read the prices wrong then, thanks for the clarification. That's definitely a much better price on the wallet. These will bolt right up to my 03 PCCB (1st gen as I understand) calipers correct?

OE PCCB calipers(6piston front,4piston rear) with Cayenne fitment ATE front discs and Genuine 997GT3 rear discs, 350mm both f/r.
PFC 08front/11rear pads
If you're still AWD front suspension, use 997TT 'steel' brake(350mm) disc alternatives in front instead...disc offset is different than GT2/GT3

Thanks for the feedback, great info. The car is still awd and it has PSS9, i haven't touched anything else suspension wise. What consists
of a none awd suspension for a 996TT other than having a GT2?
