Not a stupid question. There are many offerings available. A hybrid is basically a mixture of components creating a custom turbo. There are several ways to go depending on what your budget and horsepower goals are. Power delivery also becomes important. Feel free to give me a call if I can help in anyway. I have most options available ready to go.

i think it's a great question. i've also wondered since i have hybrids, but the answer still eludes me, since hybrids are also made of a what.. a 16 wheel inside a k24 housing?! and are in fact a combination of "parts" or is that oversimplified? i always thought the billet simply referred to the material that made the turbine wheel(s).

Doing more rading I also now see there is a k16/24 hybrid and also a K16/16G hybrid?

Thanks Sam! Im looking to basically run as much power as I can with a k16 hybrid without having to change any part of the fuel system.

One more question: I have a 1bar softronic tune for 91 octane. I assume if I slap on a hybrid turbo and run 93 octane like I always do I will still need a re-flash or would I be ok seeing that I would still be running 1bar with just a bit more flow?

I think a k16/24 hybrid uses the k16 housing with the k24 cold side.

A hybrid turbo is using a stock turbo but modifying it with non-stock parts. For example, stuffing a larger compressor wheel into the cold side, and clipping the turbine wheels on the hotside.

A "billet" is a type of hybrid turbo that uses CNC machined wheel (s) instead of cast wheels. More flexibility (perhaps) in designing the wheel ' s aero and characteristics.

You will need a retune most likely. They would do it for a small fee and you could add just a 5bar fuel reg for a nice upgrade in power. I'll be glad to go over more in detail.

After reading it looks like a k16 uses the k16 body with a K24 or 16G cold side. Not hot as I mentioned before.

OK so this is what I have now found out...

1- K16 Billet: replaces the OEM compressor wheel with a larger CNC billet unit for higher flow and increased efficiency.

2- K16/24: Replaces the cold side with that of a K24 turbo Keeping the same spool with the extra flow from the larger wheel.

3- K16/16G: Same as above only it uses the Mitsubishi 16G cold side which is said to be a bit bigger than the k24 wheel so it produces even a bit more power.

Thank you! This matches what I have been reading.

K16 billets with at least a 5 bar or injectors will do well..

Here is our billet wheel running a 60 to 130 mph record of 5.86 sec.

Tons of almost endless variations out there. Everyone has their own secret sauce. Below are the K16s I'm running with the 997GT2RS compressor. Quite a bit bigged than stock K24s..

OK so k16 Billet or 16G with 5Bar and re-tune is what I am leaning towards. Thanks guys.
