Looking for advice - PS3 on the front and PS2 on the back
Has any one had any experience with PS3 on the front and PS2 on the back.
Michelin 225-40-18 Pilot Sport 3 - Front
Michelin 295-30-18 Pilot Sport 2 - Rear
Would there be any real issues or should I stick with PS2 front & rear ?

Do you call this configuration a mullet? Business in the front, and party in the rear?
Thanks Mark for your reply.
I have just been told that the PS2 are far better than the PS3. They said PS2 have far better grip and better handling according to a Michelin supplier, I wonder how accurate this is.

Just ordered 2 x Pilot Super Sport 225 40 18 92Y at a price i couldn't refuse.
So I guess I'm part of the "mullet club" ....lol.
Thanks again for your replies.

but in terms of a difference you and i would feel day in/out? i'm gonna call it negligible.

i can't say with anything defimitve, but i've been running a PSS on the front for several months X ps2 and i have total and complete confidence in them. i think it's criminal they ( PSS ) are not made in 315/30.. and while i've had what has to be 10 sets of PS2 rears over the years.. i am now looking for alternatives which as you know are very limited. i have no issue with the ps2 beyond their growing lack of availability.. well, then there is the 500 per copy price tag

I cant even get PSS in 295 30 18, so I'll see how this (PS2 & PSS) combination will perform.
I am guessing at worst I'll be over steering which I prefer to under steer.
PSS seem to out perform PS2 in every category according to tire rack survey.
Its a shame I cant get them for the rear.

i agree it would be great. it's seems odd they would offer a 235/40/18 but not the 315/30! which i would have thought to be the more in demand sizing in 18". it's frustrating for sure. the ps2 rear is listed at 541 per on tirerack and i can't imagine you're getting better prices down under? but i sure hope so. this 541 ea on the 315/30 is forcing me to try out the g-force rivals on the rear, matched against the PSS in front. but given i am rwd and no longer susceptible to the sensitivity and demand for matching diameters front to rear, i'm at least able to eliminate that as a concern relative to the front diff. but still. the tire dilemma always has me just biting the rubber bullet and staying with the ps2's, but i'm now determined to break free of the cars reliance upon $500 + rears.
New PSS 225 40-18 tires are on the front with 40% worn PS2 (N3) on the rear along with a new wheel alignment. I went for a very spirited 180 mile drive and after they were worn in this is what I found.
Higher cornering stability, more responsive, definitely lots more steering feed back and heaps more grip at the limit than the PS2. I am really pleased with these tires and its a shame I cant get them for the rear. Thanks for all your replies.

FWIW, when I was shopping for 19s I noticed that the PSS was lighter than the PS2 by a pound or 2 between similar sizes.
I asked my tire guy about mixing Toyos in an effort to run a harder front so it lasts through two sets of rears, but he said it would probably ride like crap.
I ended up going with Nitto Invos...I was told (or maybe I read online) that the inside of the tire is a harder rubber so it wears more evenly on lowered cars.
