Crunching/Creaking front end?

if anyone can offer any insight? search has yielded less than i would've hoped. this may be one of the dumber questions i have asked, so please bear with...

i have just recently begun to hear a very slight crunch that i *believe* it to be the front end, though strangely, it could well be my oem seat creaking. this is why i am confused. i've never had a torn cv boot or replaced axles tie rods etc, so if anyone could help with what part at all could be so quietly intruding. it is more of a "crunch" than a squeak and i can produce the noise by a quick lateral twist of the car at speed. it does not do it hard lock or from a rolling start, but obviously, whatever it is could worsen and happen more frequently if it isn't sorted.

it isn't a binding spring, a shock (??!) or wheel bearing or any other issue i have known or have previously dealt with. hence my confusion.

interestingly, i just read in a recent kv3 thread in which the OP mentions a "thrust bearing crunching" (??) that is common to these, but the only thrust bearing of which i am aware is in the g'box, and those are newly replaced..

anyone have any ideas or possible help? i'm stymied and if IT IS? my seat loose/creaking, i will hang my head in shame. TIA.

Check you front shock upper mounts. If you have the original stockers, the rubber breaks down as the mounts age and become noisy. Also check your front drop links..

I think you have over 100K miles on your car right? If the uppers are original, they are DONE. If you're gonna end up replacing them, might be a perfect time to swap the uprights while at it since the upper mounts are a good part of that expense. At that point you can go with OEM GT2/3 monoball mounts or PMNA.. But then you'd need coil overs, new front rotors, etc. Never mind. Slippery slope.... lol

i hear you. fortunately, ( or unfortunately? as the case may be ) if that's the case. my source has all the gt3 stuff ready to go, and i should've done when my g'box was out but i was looking at some serious $ with all the work, so i opted to slug around rwd with just my mo30 setup as is. never did the full monty.

this might well be the perfect excuse to finally commit to the dark side rather than just dabbling as i have

they have the gt2/3 uprights, gt3 coils ( albeit somewhat used? ) and all hardware e.g. stubbed axles etc. be about 3k all in. waddya think?? of course, any other stuff i needed i would impose upon/ask you about, anyway...

but then i'd need new rotors/gt3 calipers? etc etc.. and yeah, then i'm sliding ( again ) down the slope.

Assuming the suspension is in good order, $3K installed including alignment is probably about right. Make sure the shocks are good and not a tracked out set with a bunch of miles on it. Yes, you will need new 350mm GT offset front rotors. As a result you'll need a matching set of rear 350s. Giro makes a 350/350 set that comes with the correct spacers and longer bolts included to work with stock calipers. I have some if you need a set. If you want to use OEM rotors, you'll need to source the 11mm spacers and bolts. I have those on hand also. Ideally, you'll want a set of GT2/3 calipers. Cheers...

pwdrhound is correct in my opinion I have replaced quite a few older suspensions and the strut/shock mounts are usually really shot.

this is the critter I'm thinking..it's more of a "crunch" but a crunch is as good as a grind to a dead horse lol

Has anyone experienced a creaking noise with a ungreased sway bar mount?

Just a thought.
