pls post your take on the mod once done. I've wanted to do that and whatever it is these guys keep talking about that will lessen the unsprung weight on the _______ ? before one is engine running. what mod is that one?
oh, that and pdwrhounds psm "off" pump switch for the frunk. if i could just get those 3 little things done. that'd be nice.
just thinking out loud here. sorry mad lol

Helper spring DIY
There's several write ups on a DIY for this mod on this forum...unfortunately, I don't remember the links...do a search.
I did the Home Depot spring and found it better for me...I'm use to heavier racing clutches but I find this setup the best clutch feel...although, many like the MacMaster spring...I find it still helps me too much.
I've attached a couple of screen pix of the post...hope these help...btw, use the broom stick technique to put the helper spring unit back in...it's a god send!

Also, as shown on the last attachment, be sure the Hexiganal end of the bolt is in the correct position...it's side specific...one side round, one side hex shape...
The HD spring is $4.89 and the MacMaster is about $3 each...you have to buy a bag of 6 springs + shipping charge.

i think so
it's the one the eliminates the pressure on the clutch part, name of which escapes me? is it the actual "weights" being removed? i just remember reading it was a "relatively" easy? mod e.g. clutch helper spring. then there's that and the mod eliminating the feature that requires "clutch engaged" at startup. i need a list on em lol

Ah, some cars with heavy clutches have issues with thrust bearing wear being started with the clutch in all the time, not heard of that with these cars and I second the advice to not disable the neutral start switch. I thought you were talking about the weights back at the transmission that folks are removing to lighten up the stick.
they didn't have a/c or airbags either. i like both of them! the problem may not be with the owner but rather the new mechanic who didn't know it was disabled and you forgot to tell them. or your buddy who ended up driving you home after a few to many drinks.

thrust bearing. thats it, thx. yeah, maybe i'll pass on the ignition/clutch bypass mod. but i'm gonna figure out that "psm" off switch in the frunk thing of johns, as psm off is usually part of my pre flyte checklist anyway

i'd like to also not have the added stress on the thrust bearing, but if that means i could inadvertently slam into a car in front of me or god forbid over one of those infernal parking bumpstops, then, yeah..
memory IS the first to go lol..and i probably shouldn't test that one. but i've never not engaged the clutch to start. but given i'm with stock hydraulics/shenanigans, any time i can avoid pressing the clutch ( out of habit ) i avoid it. though i often dbl clutch
.. whatever...lol
