We have the B & M short shifter in the Turbo and had one in the C4 Cab and they are night and day over stock, nice feel and short throw, highly recommended IMO.

sorry for the typo. i mean "do i need a short shifter?"

don't really know how to ask the question so i asked a simple one. i don't know if there is any pro or con on short shifter kit. i do like the smoothness shifting feeling on my TT but wish the travel on the gear could be shorter. however, if the short shifter kit is going to give me rough gear shifting feeling that's surely not what i am looking for. in other word, after installing the kit will it change the smoothness of the shifting?

I like the feel of the B & M, some say its a notchy feel, some have the Techart and the Ruf and claim it to be a smoother feel, those shifters install under the car and the B & M is a shifter replacement in the car.

I've been using my new B&M undercar short shifter for the past 4 days and the best compliment Ican give is that I don't even think about it or notice it anymore , as the " click/click' shorter travel is built into my muscle memory now and feels like it's always been that way. With previous in -car shifters, I was always aware of the notchy effort and worried about the wrong gear on downshifts so that after awhile, my shifting times increased over the stock long throw lever, if that makes any sense.

How easy is it to install a B&M shifter, and how esay is it to remove it? Is it jusy an add on, or do you replace any porsche parts.

i absolutely hate the stock porsche shifter. IMHO it is one of the worst sports car shifters i've ever felt. We have a B&M in the GT2 and it's night and day.

As a side note, if you all want to feel a sweet shifter the S2000 has probably the best feel of any i've ever driven.

ok guys, just to get the story straight. i just ordered this from Gert today. knowing that it's little pricy compare to B&M, but i do want to stick with OEM stuff.

That Porsche short shifter looks just like the B & M just a different color, does Porsche say how much the throw is reduced in %?

i know. talked to Gert earlier & he said it just like B&M kit. i think those aftermarket company & Eric (bumperplugs) should file patents on their to protect themselves from Porsche

moreover, Porsche charges double!!!
