997.1 Intercoolers Advantage?
They are 900 Euro, so right at $1000. With shipping factored in, I'd figure $1100. That's not cheap but not outrageous in the scheme of things, especially if they do offer an additional 9-14F drop. I believe its very possible because the later 997 and especially 991 wide body cars have much more pronounced air intakes that are more exposed to incoming air offering a ram air effect to the IC intake as opposed to solely relying on the venturi effect of the bumper outlets. The Manthey inlets are carbon fibre and good quality I would imagine. I'm thinking that if we could get a few guys interested we might be able to do a small group buy and knock a few buck off the price. I'll contact Manthey and get some more info.
One of the Audi enthusiasts built a flowbench and had all the intercoolers sent in for testing. http://www.myaudis4.com/intercooler-faceoff/
He would be happy to do it again for anything we send him provided shipping is covered. If anyone has a 997.2 side that could be sent in, i'd like to compare mine to it cfm wise.

Sorry i missed this, great discussions here. I send that guy a .2 cooler about a year ago. IIRC it moved 215-225 cfm @ 28" which put it pretty much in the middle of the aftermarket S4 options. It beat some 4.5" options and didn't do as well some 3.5" options. I would just caution the common assumption the thicker core always flows better.
I think i'll have him start a new page for us with the porsche IC data now that he has a data point from you.

I too might be interested in the intakes! I have SRM hardware on its way to me and will endeavor to instrument it when it's installed so we mightbe able to measure effectiveness of the Manthey pieces
Andreas a client in Germany has a 3.8l with a2873 running 1.5 bar on the autobahn has lots of data. Not just intake temps are important but also flow. Some guys did do tests on 4/5" a few years ago but they weren't used with the upper duck. Not even with the lower duck. Sure they heat soaked to 60 plus C. I know first hand that at least the ics I make work well. I have 2 types of Cores depending on application.
I'll go back to the logs I supplied. I'm guessing I surprised a many because that's on brand new gt2rs ics on a tuned stock Vtg 997.1. My point is, we can always find data showing what we want just depends what we are after. I frankly, was surprised and asked the owner and the installer if they were the rs. They said yes the just were put on with all the duck work.
4.5" run great. My car now has 6" and I'm running sub 4 60 to 130. That's on c16 not e85. No meth either. Also trapping 155 mph in summer heat.
I know that's not the bench standard but it does mean something. I'm not saying these are gods gift to mankind either. I did the first set in 2005 long before most even heard of bar n plate ics on 996s. Most rs ic cars are on entry level set ups so yes they will do great just like quality bar n plate.
