Has anyone had any experience with the IPD PLENUM on your 996 Turbo? Seems like a good mod for the $$ if it truly makes a difference. Thanks for any input.

 

What is the cost? Like $800? IMO and if it were me...I'd spend my cash on something else.

Oh and I don't have one...only have seen/heard of results from it from other members.

i added their 68mm and it added mid level and low end tq. hp? not so sure honestly, but tq one can "feel". yes.

i'd say it was worth it. interestingly i don't they make any claim for much added hp over the 68mm for their larger 74mm which needs to have the larger tb and probably y pipe etc.

i didn't want to mess with all my intake stuff and need to retain as stock a look as possible. aint no one looking all the way up my plenum.

 

invest your money in good set IC or meth or e85 wayy before plenum!imo i would only buy a plenum after 900-1000hp cuz then you need everything bigger for added flow

 

FWIW, I installed the IPD plenum when I first got the car. Don't have hard dyno numbers from before and after, but highway pulls sure felt stronger to me.

 

Most tuners don't recommend it for lower of 800hp

 

i'm not so sure thats true for the 68. that admonition or advice *might* well be reserved for their larger offerings.

again, there is no doubt of an improvement low+ mid range, the question is still, sure ok, ..but "how much" an improvement? for me, it was worth the 700 bucks.

keep in mind that ( iirc? ) requires the larger TB also and may as well do y pipe etc.

me, i'm just flying low also lol. if i can look stock and sneak a cpl gains here and there, I'm good.

 

I just installed one as a result of my plastic OEM snapping a piece. Good quality part, seems to be a shade more narrow between the two delivery sides when installed. Couldn't comment on power as I've had boost leaks since I got the car and the plenum got installed as part of fixing the check valve to close a leak.

Last I read from a IPD claim was that they guarantee power. If you're not happy you get a full refund. The last forum I read (which was likely a bit old) they had claimed that they sold 1000 and had 4 returned. Most people who say it's not worth it don't have it from what I've seen. /shrug

 

My understanding is you get a slight gain in peak torque, but torque still falls off fast up top so there aren't as much hp gains.

 

exactly mirrors my experience. its "worth it". even the 68 yields noticeably improved... man do i repeat myself. sheesh.
