PCCB pads on steel rotors?
Entertain me here for a second.
Just wondering if anyone has, or if it is even possible, to use PCCB pads with steel rotors. I've always liked the idea of doing a PCCB upgrade on my TT but the price tag is terrifying. The pads and calipers however are much more reasonably priced than the rotors.
Will the PCCB pads damage the steel rotors? If not would there be any performance upgrade from just the pads?
Just brainstorming here.

Another option is the GT2 Competition brake kit which is the big yellow calipers with steel rotors. All factory parts. Check with Kevin at Autowerke for more information (he's in the Seattle area). I see you're in Sault Ste Marie? James Daniels at Scan Automotive in North Vancouver did the conversion on my 996 TT.
are you serious? i ran akebono ceramics on my m/b and loved the clear dust. i would love to run a set of pccb pads on my 6/4 setup. any ideas were to the best place to get them would be?
Yessir 100% serious. They are good performance pads, essential rebranded Pagids (P40 compound). The pads aren't cheap, and I wouldn't pay for them myself, but if someone has a used set kicking around I'd say use them
thats awesome. i hate all the brake dust all the pads i have tried leave on my wheels. ceramics it is!!

Stoptech Street Performance pads are also an option if low dust is a priority...cheap too!
I much prefer running my loud and dirty PFC pads, but my Stoptech's are completely quiet and way cleaner.

Sorry to the OP for the mini thread hijack, but it looks like the original question has been answered and others seem to be interested in clean and quiet pads as well
Yes just GT2. Brake types on the car so far, PCCB, PCCB pads + steel disc, Stoptech pads on steel, PFC 08/11 on steel.
Yes similar for 996tt, cons being somewhat low bite/friction, but do run clean and 100% quiet.
PFC are dirty and loud but stop very hard, I like.
I will probably go with stock pads for street in future and PFC for track

Is your experience with the Stoptech Street Performance pads limited to your GT2? I assume I could expect the same for the 996 Turbo application. I am looking for a clean and quiet set of street pads. Any cons for the Stoptech Street Performance pads or anything you else you might recommend over them?

Yes, you can use PCCB compound on the iron rotors. Because the PCCB compound from Porsche Motorsport is used on the cup cars as well for iron brakes.
I recommend using the Race Technologies RE10 endurance pads as they have excellent bite, wear very low and are very nice to the discs. Brembo also has 2 piece discs which would be excellent for track use.. We offer competitive prices on both and are in stock.

want some good and cheap used Stoptech pads? I know they work for what you need...one negative of PFC's in my experience is they work but really don't like high-speed cold decel...shutter
IMHO, don't use factory PCCB discs unless you get extremely cheap, will beat them up for your usage...aftermarket ceramic disc options are better.

I'm looking for a low dust pccb pad thats street friendly, clear or no dust, and able to handle stopping from 180 mph in 1/2 mile events and 140+ in 1/4 mile events. what can you recommend? these are on factory steel rotors for now and possibly pccb rotors in the future if i can find a decent set used

are the stoptechs pccb material? send me some pics to tbtunes@bellsouth.net with the details if they are. i know it sounds petty but with a yellow car and silver rims the brake dust is killing me. i can't drive from my house to a car show 1 hr away without having to clean wheels when i get there. it sucks!
the discs i was looking at are for a gt2. looks like they won't fit unless i swap the spindles. to much trouble. i will likely end up with some giro disc 2 piece rotors slotted and some pccb pads. i only do the half mile 2 times a yr and about 5 passes each event. the 1/4 mile however can be 2 to 3 times a month with 5 passes or more at each event so i need something that doesn't shudder

PFC pads would not be an optimal choice as they normally take one full lap of warm up to come up to operating temperature for optimal bite. When cold they are very abrasive towards the rotors. Any good pad will dust....
