Looking for a guy to do rebuild / 3.8 conversion

BBI near me seems too busy to return my calls (I even went in to their new shop but everyone was out to lunch). Who else can anyone suggest to do an engine rebuild / conversion for a 04 turbo. This is the same engine I just upgraded about 1k miles ago then had the TIAL Alpha 2871 fail on me sending shrapnel into the engine.

TIA

Right now just a long haul driver....cruising and such. Figured I'd start looking into 3.8 conversion prices as the engine needs to come apart anyways. Wouldn't mind quarter mile runs later. Figured I'd stick with my 600+hp bolt ons for now and get the internals up to snuff and later go the full 800-1000hp.

Check out HD Motorwerks in Glendale, talk to Ernesto. He put my car together and has a ton of experience.

Might want to take it to Glenn Yee Motorsports in San Dimas . It's a smaller shop but will make time vs some of the larger shops.

If you are fairly close to BBi, I would say they are worth the wait. I am not sure why Betim or Joey would not return your calls. My personal experience has been that although they are sometimes super busy, but they do get back to me and let me know the right path to take with my car.

Jared has done a ton of these conversions, so I would say they know there stuff. However, they are not the cheapest nor do they claim to be. GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE.

Just my 2 Cents,

Sean at Silly Rabbit Motorsports should also be on your list, might be able to hook you up with some nice turbos too. Your experience with Tial is certainly one I'd take into consideration in the future that's for sure!

What about Promotive? Seems like they built one hell of a 3.8 for BHT.

vivid was selling either a 3.8 or a .3.9 fully built stroker motor for $10K awhile back. i was thinking of grabbing it even though i dont need it. it must be gone by now but the parts looked "proper" near as i could tell.

https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...-p-148812.html

apparently they still have one short block assembled motor same one they were asking 10k assembled iirc.

also. if you haven't considered speed gallery in in NoHo you hold. they can "build". ask sam about them.

Wasn't the one they had for sale forever a 4.1?? I always assumed they had a hard time selling it because the 4.1 kit wasn't as "proven" as the 3.8.

I always thought ( or somehow got the impression? ) that it was a fully built 3.8 w/ block, they had for sale for the $10k. but could've been their "3.9" ( did they sell a 3.9?? or a 4.1?! I would gues the 4.1 WAS a lot less "proven for sure. who knows.. but I do know it wasn't just the unassembled kit vivid offers as was the link I posted for reference.. I realize the link was just to the "kit" which is also why it was also "only" 8k +/-. I couldn't find the "for sale" thread from last summer?? so maybe it sold.

always seemed like a helluva deal to me? seemed like it was all the right stuff iirc pauter or carillo etc.

i pm'd him sam and advised the same thing. la sleeves cp carrillo pistons new rings 12mm head studs and 997 lifters . full rebuild kit from the crank out and let sean put it together. the only real delay is finding parts for any damaged pieces and seems pistons are slow in coming. i know sean has a set of 3.8 liners sitting on the shelf.

and no whammies! 5 bar fpr were scanned and replaced in cheese at 10,000 times and shipped to your house cod!
