Feedback on the BBi 996/997 slave cyl upgrade

Hello 996/GT2 lovers,

I am new to the forum - what a great source of info!
Has anyone installed (other than the seller) this slave cylinder on a 996 turbo?
If so, what was your impression of this conversion? Does this part use the accumulator?
I see the stock slave cylinder requires the accumulator.

Can this item be installed with the engine/trans in the car?

It appears that I am pumping fluid to the forward reservoir, which seems to be indicative of a pending slave cylinder failure.

Any info will help, and thanks

I too would like to know the answers to the above questions. Has anyone installed the BBi?

I can answer a couple of your questions though I have not installed the BBi slave. It eliminates the accumulator and the coolant path of the factory slave. I believe it can be installed with the trans in the car, but you'd have to lower the trans a bit to access it, just like a factory slave replacement. If my slave goes, I'll be picking up the BBi.

Sambo took care of me with this upgrade along with a clutch job. After 1 hour of driving, I got use to it and was able to feather/slip it in heavy LA traffic.

My pedal effort is stiff but I also went with a 764PP along with it. Engagement is pretty much like stock though, just more effort.

After installing the 764 pressure plate and solid GT2 disk, I would never consider changing the stock slave/accumulator setup.

The vague clutch feel is gone and the pedal effort is as easy as stock. I do have the 997 accumulator.

Later, Steve
