Blown motor pics.
Getting some 997 pistons and liners as well as an oil pump from prodigymb. That should cover it for the major parts if CRR comes through with the crank and rods. For around $5,500 I have a good case, crank with 10k on it, Pauter rods with 4k on them, 997 pistons and liners with 20k on them, and a oil pump. Not bad. I feel like the guy in Hot Rod magazine slapping together a big block with parts from wherever. Now time to find some gasket sets and think about head studs.
Your getting a professional to build your motor right? Alot can go wrong if you dont also if you have never put a mezger motor together before i would recommend a shop that has.
Just looking out.

Biggest problem is so little seems to be shared regarding it. At the very least you'll want the Porsche technical materials but you'll also need specialized tools - some of which can be made. Mind you, I've not done it but Sean at SRM and I have talked about what's involved and he's pretty honest about it - it CAN be done! However I would at least speak to one or two respected builders to gauge costs. So far you've done great gathering parts and it would sure suck to have to do it again
Do please keep everyone posted on how it goes, you're living ne of my worst nightmares for sure!

Here is what I will do for now. I will do a mock engine build and reassemble my broken engine as if I were building my new one to see how it goes. My top end won't go back together because some of the liners are bulged, but the bottom end can be done just fine. I did not need any special tools once I got past the cam shafts. I will measure all of the clearances and perform all of the torques. I will start a "mock engine build" thread and anyone who wants to chime in with some tips can. Hopefully it will be a good informational piece for the Porsche community.
