The Cup/GT lever is 30% shorter than the TT lever and as such will give you a 30% reduction in shift throws. That is why the OEM 6Cup and 6/7GT3 shifters are not short shifters as the transmission shift lever provides the short shift action. That's why Porsche made the 997SSK which is designed to work with the long TT shift lever. You would not wanna install that shifter on a gt2/3 as the action would be way too short.

I have a gt2rs box (997) and it has the counter weights.
Yep. The 7GT2 has the counter weights. I guess Porsche decided to make those cars a little "softer" as most of them do not get tracked much compared to the GT3. If I recall the 7GT2 lever is the same that is on the 7TT. Both can be swapped out to the Cup lever but obviously the gearbox has to come apart. My friend who tracks his 7TT swapped his out.
I can't see a 7GT2 having counter weighted,, why go from 6GT2 'straight' levers to counter weighted for 7GT2 back to 'straight' on 7GT2RS...but I haven't seen in person...
AFAIK, the car has sold John, gearbox out for clutch/flywheel
I took the weights off my shifter. They are just bolted on. Makes the shifter feel much more notchy. Stock is a bit smoother but also slower and lazier feel with the counter weights on imo.
