DIY Front diff oil change
#2
Step 1: Drain the case.
Step 2: Fill the case.
Haha, seriously, it's a pretty straight forward procedure. I used a little hand pump that screws on the oil bottle to fill it. It looks like a soap bottle pump. I can't remember the volume, it's not much though, maybe 1L. Fill until it comes out of the fill hole.

I did it as part of my 30K maintenance.
Biggest task is removing some of the panels underneath the car.

Thanks guys ...I mainly needed to know how much gear oil I will need. I already did the trany and only have 1 quart left. Looks like I will need +/- 1.5 Qt. to do the front Diff.
Thanks

I did the transmission and the front differential with 5 1/4 litres. I think 1.5 litres is needed for the diff. You will need a 17 mm wrench (socket) for the plugs, of course do the fill first in case you cannot take it off. My drain plug was magnetic and had a little bit of shaving.... Torque for both plugs, 21 ft/lb. Note: no sealing rings on any plugs on this diff.....

I used 5 liters to do the front diff and manual transmission on my 996 turbo. About 1.5 liters of this was used for the front diff. Please ensure you use the correct specification transmission oil for your vehicle - lots into about that online

Everything drive/sound fine after switching? Looking forward to the switch myself and have heard no negative reviews to date. Rear the Delvac runs heavier and can cause notchiness/stiffness in the tranny when cold...
