porsche tt or GT2 gets approx. 20 mpg and you have to pay gas guzzling tax but hummer H2 gets 8-9 mpg but no gas guzzler tax...something not right here??

 

It must do with the weight of the H2, maybe its gass guzzling ratio is less than the turbo's.

 

trucks/suvs don't pay gas guzzler i believe

 

Yeah, I guess that government expects SUVs to be gass guzzlers.

My onboard currently displays 10.9 MPG on my TT...(I think this is combined city/hwy)

 

onboard avg. for me is only 13.4, I was expecting at least 16.

 

I got 16 on my first tank, and I wasn't juts panzy-ing around town either. I did have some freeway driving, but it wasn't slow.

 

I average 17 and change....

 

Wow Gary, you must drive that turbo like a Yugo. Even my slow self tends to be around 13.5 with 50% highway driving.

 

I average about 18... but it's my commuter vehicle and not many places you can go fast in rush hour traffic. I think the worst I've ever seen is 14.3

You guys who are getting sub 13mpg must live in Montana with no traffic... otherwise I don't see how you could possibly be getting that poor mpg.... even if you had your foot to the floor every chance possible.

Now... if you've done some ECU mods... then I can see it...
