I have finally decided to put my speed yellow 996TT up for sale to move into a newer generation Porsche turbo and develop a few additional SpeedTech upgrades with the new car. I will be formally posting in the classifieds this evening.
It was in the vendors classifieds - the moderators must have taken it down. Perhaps you can not mention cars for sale there. I will be posting it in the auto classifieds shortly and once it's up, i'll link it for you.
Thanks, Gunther. Yea, it's nice when you have the car to test new ideas and the time has come...
I have really enjoyed the 996TT and kept it much longer than any other 911 that I have ever owned...they are fantastic cars! Every time I drive mine I tell myself the car is perfect, there is no reason to sell :-)
John, sad to see you leave the 996TT family, but looking forward to following you through the NH twisties in your new Porsche! Plus, I am ok with it because your technical expertise with the 996 is always just a phone call (or short drive) away! GLWS!
UPDATE: After a few recent extended test drives of later model Porsche turbos, I have decided to take my car off the market and add to it, rather than replace. The difference between a fully modded, perfectly dialed in 996TT with suspension/GT3 seats and a newer model turbo is substantial. Substantial enough to make me realize that I am not willing to part with the 996TT at this time, as I do not want to heavily mod another car in an attempt to replicate it. I always felt that my car possessed fantastic connection to the road with seamless turbo response while providing exceptional driver feedback and sure enough - it becomes very apparent in direct comparison. Not to say the newer turbos are bad cars because they certainly are not, however, they are a much different driving experience when compared to a lowered, fully modded 996TT, so for now I am going to look to add to it with a later model, rather than let it go. Seriously considering a PDK cab for a totally different experience.
I've heard from quite a number of Porsche people that the 996 makes for a good driving experience. It's the looks and the interior that are the main knocks on the cars when compared to the nicer looking 993 and 997's. What other cars have you test driven?
