2002 6speed 996TT on Mecum Today
UPDATE: Car did not sell, did not reach reserve.
There is a 2002 996TT 6speed coming up today on Mecum. A lot fewer 996T's in 2016 vs '14 and '15 at these larger auction houses. There are not too many details about the car listed at the Mecum webiste so it's hard to gauge what kind of specimen we'll be looking at but might be fun to watch. I'm guessing they will give some more when it comes on the block later today.
Car Auction starts today at 1PM if I understand correctly. It is lot # F199 so not sure exactly what time.
Here is link to the car: https://www.mecum.com/lots/CH1016-257400/2002-porsche-911-turbo/
You can watch the auction LIVE at: https://www.mecum.com/auctions/chicago-2016/live/
Also will be LIVE on TV on: NBC-SN
I have a list of all 996T's that have gone through Mecum, Barrett, Russo & Steele for the past couple years here: http://rennlist.com/forums/996-turbo-forum/908707-996-turbo-actual-auction-price-list-past-2-years-mecum-barrett-etc.html

I paid $38k for mine in 2012 with 50,000mi on the clock. Needed some brakes and had damaged wheels though. It's nice to drive a car and not have huge depreciation, allthough it isn't that much money we're talking here.

No sale, did not reach reserve. Only got up to $29k
I was watching on TV and the live TV coverage ended about 3-4 cars before she rolled on the block..I was hoping it would make the TV coverage because then they usually give more details on the car and show video inside, etc.. Oh well.

Mecum is not a good barometer of the Porsche market. But they are a good barometer of the muscle car market.

Sadly, we don't have much info on the car either (not even mileage, history, or even condition inside, etc) I was hoping it would get air time on TV broadcast but they ended the broadcast a couple cars before she rolled out. They usually reveal a bit more details or at least show the inside, engine bay etc...there were tons of cars that did not hit their reserves so really not a big deal. There just wasn't anyone there that wanted it.
I did contact Mecum and found out the reserve was at $33k...I'm guessing with a reserve that low this car is not really that great a specimen (could be wrong obviously).
