New 996TT Cab Owner! Questions Inside - Mods/Tune on Car

Hey guys, so I have lurked this forum for years lol. I finally pulled the trigger on this:

http://www.qautocenter.com/detail-20...-17648597.html

Getting picked up by the shipper Friday or so.

I wasn't even really looking for a Cab but I saw this car, the color combo, the miles and just couldn't resist. I LOVE this car.

My only questions for anyone who doesn't mind answering:
- The car has an FVD stage 2 tune...what does that mean exactly? Is it a canned tune you throw on there or does has someone tuned the ECU itself. Still trying to figure out how that works, doing some searches and it looks like each stage unlocks functionality?
- In the receipts, it says upgraded turbos to 19g? You think that is a typo and maybe means 18g? I have researched and seen nothing on 19g's haha.

I ordered the only missing piece for the car - GT2 lip.

I also am considering having the tune reviewed for my location since the car has been Westcoast... needed with the FVD type tune?

I think that is everything I can think of for now... happy to be here!

Would be nice to get more definitive info from the seller.

According th FVD website, stage 2 is tune, exhaust and BMC filter, NO turbo upgrade.

Yea the dealer isn't sure he just has the receipts uploaded which shows that tune, there didn't seem to be any corners cut on mods so thinking maybe it was actually tuned?

Maybe it would be good for me to run to a local-ish tuner to have it just looked over.

The PPI came back good on everything else.

Maybe I will just give FVD a call when the car gets here and go over it with them. It has a few of the FVD bits. They can prob give me an idea.

If it's tuned for 91 octane, you may want a retune if you have access to better fuel. Also if the tune is dated, you may want a retune. Cobb seems to be popular as of late, or you can contact Marski, or Todd at Protomotive. They can all remote tune if you can do some data logging.

Local support is nice, maybe report back before dropping alot of money, just to be sure. Enjoy your car

Good idea.

They may keep a record based on VIN #

Furthermore, the turbos are fairly accessible on these cars, you could take a picture of the turbo housing part #, that will tell you if you have K16 or K24 housing, doesn't necessarily mean the internals match the external part #, the 18g turbo is a modified K24 turbo. It will at least give you a better idea, and maybe you can better match the receipts with this knowledge.

Funny enough I had a call with Marskituninf this AM who said the same thing. Basically when I get the car he’s going to walk me through identifying some items and then we will check it all over and make a tuning plan.
